Florida State’s 2027 ACC slate is now set, and it comes with a major shift: for the first time, the Seminoles will play nine conference regular-season games.
The ACC announced the opponents Wednesday, giving FSU five home dates and four road trips. Miami and Louisville are both coming to Tallahassee, while the Seminoles will have to go to Clemson and, for the first time, Cal in Berkeley.
FSU’s home conference opponents in 2027 are Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, and Stanford. On the road, the Seminoles will visit Cal, Clemson, North Carolina, and Syracuse.
The home matchup with Miami keeps one of college football’s longest-running annual rivalries intact. The teams have met every season since 1969. Clemson also remains a familiar name on the schedule, with Florida State having played the Tigers every year except 2020 since joining the ACC in 1992.
The 2027 slate also includes two program firsts. Stanford is set to make its first trip to Tallahassee, and Florida State will play its first road game at Cal.
The nine-game ACC schedule will be the second season of the conference’s “9+1” model. Under that setup, most league teams play nine conference games and must schedule at least 10 games against Power Four opponents each year.
Florida State is already used to that kind of workload. The university said 2027 will be the Seminoles’ seventh straight season with at least 10 Power Four regular-season opponents, and their 10th since 2016.
The rest of the 2027 schedule has not been announced yet, so the full shape of the season is still coming into focus. The order of the road games and the open dates will matter, especially with trips to Clemson and North Carolina on the conference docket. The ACC is expected to release the full schedule with game dates early in 2027.
Because of the nine-game league schedule and the requirement to face at least 10 Power Four opponents, Florida State will also need at least one Power Four nonconference game.
