FSU Signs Linebacker With Family Ties Fans Will Recognize

Florida State adds a high-motor linebacker in Noah LaVallee, whose talent and ties to the program make him a compelling fit for Tony Whites defense.

Another LaVallee is headed to Tallahassee - and Florida State fans have plenty of reason to be excited.

Noah LaVallee, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker out of Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia, has officially signed with the Seminoles. He’s the younger brother of Caleb LaVallee, who transferred to FSU from North Carolina earlier this year, and now the siblings will have a chance to suit up together in garnet and gold.

Florida State won a competitive recruiting battle to land Noah. Programs like Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Ole Miss, and Wake Forest were all in the mix, but the Seminoles made the strongest impression. While the opportunity to play alongside his brother certainly didn’t hurt, FSU’s staff made it clear they were recruiting Noah on his own merit - and his tape backs that up.

LaVallee is currently rated as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite, slotted as the No. 120 linebacker in the country and among the top 150 players in Georgia. Those rankings, however, haven’t been updated in over two months - and his senior season may warrant a fresh look.

Because on the field? This kid just flat-out produces.

Noah piled up 183 tackles during his senior campaign - 103 of them solo. He added eight tackles for loss, 10 pass deflections, one sack, a forced fumble and recovery, and even blocked a punt.

That kind of stat line jumps off the page, but what really stands out in his film is how he gets there. He plays with a calm urgency - patient enough to let plays develop, but quick to trigger once he diagnoses what’s coming.

He’s got the size you want in today’s hybrid defenses, and while he’s not the flashiest athlete on the field, he plays fast because he understands angles, leverage, and his assignments.

In defensive coordinator Tony White’s scheme, LaVallee projects as a true Mike linebacker - the quarterback of the defense. That’s a role that demands not just physicality and instincts, but leadership. And that’s another area where Noah shines.

He’s a high-character guy with a 3.55 GPA and a strong reputation as a locker room leader. Coaches at Walton raved about his presence both on and off the field. That leadership is something Florida State’s staff believes will translate well to the next level - especially in a linebacker room that’s being reshaped with a mix of veterans and young talent.

LaVallee’s junior year was no slouch either. He earned First-Team All-Region honors after racking up 124 tackles (eight for loss), five pass breakups, and another blocked punt.

That kind of consistency over multiple seasons speaks volumes. He’s not just a one-year wonder - he’s been producing since he stepped onto the field.

Looking at his full high school résumé, the numbers are impressive: 350 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, two sacks, and 37 games of experience. He even contributed as a sophomore with 43 tackles and four TFLs, and started his high school career with 13 tackles in 10 games at Whitefield Academy back in 2022.

From a roster-building perspective, this is a smart addition for Florida State. LaVallee brings toughness, experience, and a high football IQ.

He may not be the most explosive athlete in the class, but he knows how to play the position - and that matters. Expect him to make an early impact on special teams, and don’t be surprised if he pushes for defensive reps sooner rather than later.

And with his brother Caleb already in the fold, there’s a real chance the LaVallee name becomes a staple in the middle of FSU’s defense for years to come.
