FSU's Miami Fight Suddenly Comes With A Bigger Worry

FSU faces a serious setback as star running back Ousmane Kromah suffers a potentially severe injury, adding pressure to their already challenging game against Miami.

Florida State’s matchup with Miami took a rough turn late in the second quarter when running back Ousmane Kromah left the game with a lower-body injury.

The Seminoles were already dealing with a physical night at Hard Rock Stadium, and Kromah’s injury added another jolt. On a run to the left side, he powered through a defender before two more Miami players dragged him down awkwardly while hanging onto his legs.

He first tried to limp toward the sideline on one leg, but after a few steps he dropped to the turf near midfield. The training staff got to him quickly and applied an air cast to his left leg before bringing out the cart.

Florida State’s sideline gathered around him as he was taken off the field, with teammates kneeling near the cart to offer handshakes and encouragement. Kromah was visibly emotional on the way to the locker room, and his night appears to be over.

Before leaving, Kromah had carried the ball 14 times for 44 yards. Through six games this season, he has 114 carries for 609 yards and 5 touchdowns, along with 11 catches for 97 yards.

The injury comes at a difficult time for Florida State’s backfield. With Samuel Singleton Jr. already unavailable, the Seminoles are down to Quintrevion Wisner, Amari Thomas, Zay Parks, and Gavin Markey as the only healthy running backs on the roster.

Kromah’s exit followed another scare earlier in the game for quarterback Ashton Daniels, who briefly left after taking a hit to the head that drew a targeting penalty on Miami. Daniels returned to the field.

Florida State and Miami were tied 14-14 at halftime.

Ashton Daniels Hit Leaves Florida State Fans Watching One Thing

Florida States sideline had to hold its breath for a few moments Saturday after Ashton Daniels took a hit to the head while sliding against Miami. The play drew an ejection for Hurricanes defensive back Zechariah Poyser on a targeting call, and Daniels was sent to the medical tent for evaluation before eventually making his way back onto the field.

Kevin Sperry stepped in during Daniels brief absence, giving the Seminoles a reminder of how quickly a game can tilt when the quarterback is forced out for even a snap or two. For Florida State, the bigger concern was Daniels health, and his return on the next drive at least offered some relief after a tense sequence in a rivalry game already packed with emotion. FSU Fans Have Every Reason To Be Furious After Miami Heartbreaker

Florida State came out of Miami with a gut-punch loss, falling 43-35 in double overtime to the third-ranked Hurricanes in a game that had enough swings to frustrate everyone involved. Ashton Daniels gave the Seminoles a chance all night, throwing for 298 yards and connecting multiple times with Duce Robinson, but the road skid keeps growing and the bigger concern may be how hard the team had to fight just to stay in position against a top-end opponent.

The Seminoles also took a hit when Ousmane Kromah went down with an ankle injury, thinning an offense that was already leaning on Daniels to make plays through the air. Miamis Darian Mensah answered with 326 passing yards and three touchdowns, and the finish only added to the sting, with the game hinging on a sequence Florida State will not forget anytime soon. Florida State Heartbreak At Miami Came Down To Two Brutal Twists

Florida States trip to Miami had all the makings of a breakthrough night before it turned into another long ride home. The Seminoles pushed the Hurricanes into double overtime and were still hanging around late in a 43-35 loss, but a nullified touchdown on a holding penalty wiped out one of the biggest swings of the night and kept the game in reach instead of shifting the pressure the other way.

The ending was even harsher, with a final interception call standing after review and sealing the defeat. For Florida State, the loss stretched its road skid to 12 games and left the Seminoles below .500 heading into a bye week, a frustrating place to sit after coming so close in one of the seasons most heated games.
