FSU Lands Official Visit From Top Defensive Line Target This Summer

A top defensive line prospect with NFL bloodlines is giving Florida State a serious look ahead of a key summer visit.

Florida State is making moves on the recruiting trail, and one of their top defensive line targets is now locked in for an official visit.

Four-star defensive lineman Santana Harvey out of Lakeland (Fla.) has announced he’ll be in Tallahassee from June 5-7 for his official visit. This is a big one for the Seminoles, who are looking to solidify their 2027 class early-and Harvey is a name to circle.

Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing in at 220 pounds, Harvey has the kind of frame and athletic upside that college coaches love to mold. And it’s clear the Seminoles are putting in the work. New edge rushers coach Nick Williams has already made a strong impression on the talented pass rusher, both during Harvey’s recent unofficial visit and with a follow-up trip to see him at school.

“I just came off a visit to Florida State. They're really high on my board right now,” Harvey said last month. “Coach Nick [Williams], the edge coach, he came to see me at the school a couple days ago.”

FSU isn’t the only program in the mix-Harvey also has an official visit lined up with Clemson from May 29-31. But with Florida State landing the final visit before his decision, they could be in a strong position. Harvey plans to commit before his senior season kicks off, so these next few months will be critical.

According to 247Sports, Harvey is ranked as the No. 137 overall prospect and the No. 15 defensive lineman in the 2027 class. That kind of national ranking reflects not only his raw tools but also his pedigree.

And that pedigree runs deep-Harvey’s father, Derrick Harvey, was a former five-star recruit himself and carved out a solid football résumé. He starred at Florida under Urban Meyer from 2005-07, earning second-team All-SEC honors twice before being selected in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He also spent time with the Denver Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals during his NFL career.

Now the younger Harvey is forging his own path, and all signs point to a high-impact college career ahead. Florida State is doing everything it can to make sure that journey starts in garnet and gold.
