Florida State has added another name to its recruiting board, this time in the 2028 class.
Earlier this month, the Seminoles extended a scholarship offer to Kahlil Gabaud, a four-star athlete and rising junior who has seen his recruitment take off in a hurry. Pittsburgh got in first in January, and since then the list has kept growing. Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Illinois, West Virginia, Notre Dame, Missouri, Syracuse, SMU, Louisville, and Florida State have all jumped in.
Gabaud made the news himself after posting that he was “Very excited and blessed to have received an offer from Florida State University!” on social media.
The Cardinal Newman High School standout has not visited Florida State yet, but that could become an important next step for the Seminoles. He plays just a few hours away from Tallahassee, and Florida State is now trying to build on that early connection.
At the college level, Gabaud is expected to line up in the defensive backfield. He put together a strong sophomore season at Cardinal Newman, finishing with 51 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 2 pass deflections, and 6 interceptions.
He picked off passes in six different games and closed the year with a run of three straight games with an interception. That production earned him first-team All-State recognition.
The 6-foot-2, 170-pound prospect is ranked by On3 as the No. 291 overall player, the No. 15 athlete, and the No. 41 recruit in Florida for the 2028 class.
Florida State currently has two verbal commitments in #Tribe28, a group that ranks No. 7 nationally.
