Florida State’s quarterback board for the future is starting to take shape, and the Seminoles have already turned their attention to a name from the 2028 class.
After landing three-star quarterback Logan Flaherty in the second half of May, Florida State wrapped up its hunt for a prep quarterback in the 2026 cycle. Flaherty, the lone high school quarterback in the class, has already said he’s shut down his recruitment.
That gives quarterbacks coach Austin Tucker a chance to get ahead of the curve, and the Seminoles did just that earlier this month by offering three-star Trey Wright.
Wright, a Texas product, announced the offer after what he described as a strong conversation with Tucker. He’s already built a sizable national list, with nearly 30 scholarship offers, including Clemson, Oklahoma, Oregon, Michigan, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Utah.
He has not yet made it to Tallahassee for a visit, and Florida State likely got to him too late to bring him in for a camp this summer. The next move is getting him on campus, whether that comes in the fall for a game or early next year for a junior day.
There’s plenty to like in Wright’s production. As a sophomore at Frisco Lone Star High School, he completed 211 of 313 passes for 4,042 yards with 38 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also carried the ball 163 times for 1,764 yards and 16 rushing touchdowns.
Wright topped 100 rushing yards in 10 games and passed for at least 250 yards in eight outings. His biggest game came on December 5, when he went 28 of 39 for 502 yards and three touchdowns without an interception in a 58-38 win over Highland Park Scots High School.
At 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, Wright is ranked by the 247Sports Composite Ratings as the No. 366 overall prospect, the No. 28 quarterback, and the No. 44 player in Texas in the 2028 class.
Florida State currently has one verbal commitment in #Tribe28, which sits at No. 127 in the country.

What Should Count As Success For FSU In 2026
Florida State heads into 2026 carrying a very different kind of expectation than it did after the undefeated regular season in 2023. The Seminoles have gone 7-17 over the past two seasons, a stretch that has turned every conversation about the program into one about accountability, recovery and whether the climb back to contender status is actually starting to take shape.
Mike Norvell and his staff know the margin for patience keeps shrinking, and the upcoming schedule only sharpens the conversation around what a real step forward would look like.
