Florida State’s secondary has gone from urgent concern to a much more manageable situation, and now the Seminoles are already turning the page toward the next wave of defensive backs.
A few weeks ago, the back end was a problem that needed fixing. Since then, Florida State has added four-star safety Ta'Shawn Poole and four-star defensive back Za'Kari Johnson in #Tribe27, with three-star safety Jemari Foreman also in the class. That gives the Seminoles a much healthier outlook on the defensive backfield, and they now appear to be close to finished there.
With that room created, the staff is shifting its attention to future classes and getting in early with top targets. One of the newest names on the board is rising junior Ca'Ron Williams, a four-star defensive back from Santa Margarita Catholic.
Florida State offered Williams earlier this week, and he highlighted cornerbacks coach Blue Adams when sharing the news on social media. The Seminoles are now part of a long list of suitors that includes nearly 30 offers, with LSU, Penn State, Notre Dame, Alabama, Michigan, Texas, and Oklahoma all involved as well.

He has already taken visits to LSU, Ohio State, and Texas this offseason, but he has never been to Tallahassee.
On the field, Williams put together a strong sophomore season at Santa Margarita Catholic, finishing with 47 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 4 pass deflections, and 3 interceptions, including one pick-six. His best game came early in the year, when he posted 8 tackles, 1 pass deflection, and 2 interceptions, one of them returned for a touchdown, in a 33-27 win over Centennial High School on August 28.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound cornerback is ranked by the 247Sports Composite Ratings as the No. 179 overall prospect, the No. 18 cornerback, and the No. 13 player in California in the 2028 class.
Florida State currently has two verbal commitments in #Tribe28, a class that sits No. 7 nationally.
