Florida State’s defense is set to lose two more contributors as linebacker Omar Graham and defensive end Jaden Jones have announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal - pushing the Seminoles’ expected departures to 16 as the offseason shuffle gains momentum.
Both Graham and Jones were steady presences on the field this season, each appearing in all 12 games for FSU. Graham, who started five games, was a key piece in the linebacker rotation, finishing the year with 38 total tackles, including 24 solo stops, and added a pass breakup.
He’s no stranger to the portal - this marks his second stint after briefly entering before returning to Tallahassee in 2024. He’ll have one year of eligibility remaining.
Jones, meanwhile, started three games off the edge and recorded seven tackles this season. His journey has been more winding - after beginning his college career in junior college and dealing with injuries, he’s now a redshirt senior with two seasons of eligibility left, according to 247Sports. Despite limited production, Jones’ size and experience could make him a valuable rotational piece for programs looking for depth and maturity on the defensive line.
Their departures continue a trend that’s become all too familiar across college football: roster fluidity is the new normal. With the transfer portal officially opening on January 2 and closing January 16, this will be the only window for movement this offseason following the NCAA’s decision to eliminate the spring portal period. That makes every entry - and every exit - all the more significant.

For Florida State, this wave of portal activity is part of the broader recalibration that comes after a long, competitive season. While the losses on defense - particularly with experienced depth like Graham and Jones - are notable, the portal also opens the door for fresh talent and new opportunities. As always in today’s college football landscape, it’s not just about who’s leaving - it’s about who’s coming next.
