Florida State's basketball program is celebrating a standout achievement as senior guard Robert McCray V has been named to the All-ACC Third Team. This recognition comes after a season where McCray played a pivotal role in the Seminoles' performance under the new leadership of head coach Luke Loucks.
Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 188 pounds, McCray transferred to Florida State before the 2025-26 season from Jacksonville. His impact was immediate and profound, leading the team with an impressive 15.6 points per game.
His shooting stats were solid, boasting a 44.8% field goal percentage and hitting 35.0% from beyond the arc. McCray also demonstrated his playmaking abilities with 6.1 assists per game and maintained a commendable 1.7:1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Defensively, he recorded 38 steals and 15 blocks, showcasing his versatility on the court. Notably, he achieved three double-doubles this season, the latest in a victory over SMU.
McCray's efforts placed him 15th in the ACC for scoring and third for assists, earning him ACC Player of the Week honors during the regular season. He follows in the footsteps of former teammate Jamir Watkins, who made the All-ACC second team in the previous season.
As the Seminoles gear up for the 2026 ACC Tournament, they hold the No. 8 seed and are set to face No. 9 seed Cal on Wednesday at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C.
The ACC awards highlighted several standout performers this year, with Duke's Cameron Boozer taking home multiple honors, including Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year. Duke's Maliq Brown was named Defensive Player of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year, while Wake Forest's Juke Harris earned the Most Improved Player title. Duke's Jon Scheyer was recognized as Coach of the Year.
The All-ACC teams were stacked with talent, featuring first-team selections like Duke's Cameron Boozer and North Carolina's Caleb Wilson. McCray's inclusion in the third team underscores his significant contributions and the bright future ahead for Florida State basketball under Loucks' guidance.
