Florida State is getting Clemson at just the right time for the recruiting calendar, even if the football part has been rough. After a stretch on the road, the Seminoles are finally back in Tallahassee this weekend, and Doak Campbell Stadium will double as a showcase for a massive visitor list when Clemson comes to town.
The timing matters. Florida State has dropped two straight, and the 2026 season has been uneven enough that consistency has been hard to find from one week to the next.
Clemson is also a familiar problem, having won the last two meetings in strikingly similar fashion. But this weekend is about more than the scoreboard for Mike Norvell and his staff.
With 26 recruits expected on campus, the Seminoles need the game to do more than just stop a losing streak.
Among the visitors, the flip watch starts with 2027 4-star IOL Jatori Williams, a former Miami commitment who has reopened his recruitment again. Williams had previously been pledged to Alabama before flipping to Miami after a visit, and Florida State has made him a major target as it tries to address issues up front. Auburn remains the obstacle, though, and the Tigers have had a long-standing connection with him that won’t be easy to beat.
Two 2028 defensive backs are also set to be in the building, and both are worth tracking closely. Florida commitment Cyion Smith is expected to attend after camping with Florida State before choosing the Gators, and there’s still plenty of time for the Seminoles to make up ground with a 2028 prospect.
Ole Miss pledge Giovanni Tuggle is another name on the radar. Florida State offered him in August of 2025, and with his commitment to Ole Miss coming just last month, the staff will have a fresh chance to push back into the race.
Florida State’s committed class will be well represented, too. Seven members of the 2027 class are set to attend, including three four-stars: safety Za'Kari Johnson, defensive lineman Sam LeJeune and running back Jayden Miles. They’ll be joined by three-star wide receiver Majay Thompson, three-star defensive lineman Eric Vaulx Jr., three-star linebacker CJ Ohuabunwa and three-star kicker Vance Fones.
Johnson is the headliner in that group. He’s been under heavy pressure from other programs trying to pry him away, but he has held firm so far. Texas A&M and Miami appear to have backed off some, and Florida State would love to back up that loyalty with a convincing showing against Clemson while he’s in attendance.
The biggest chunk of the weekend board comes from the 2028 class, where Florida State is expected to host a wide mix of targets. That group includes 4-star QB Luke Rubley, 4-star RB Dalen Powell, 4-star LB Shamar Evans, 4-star CB Zion Dobson, 4-star WR Bubba Brown and 4-star LB Christopher Sanon, along with 3-star S Zion Green, 3-star EDGE Nasir Walker, 3-star CB Kahmaree Crumity, 3-star OT Aidan Galles, 3-star LB Trevaughn Robinson, 3-star IOL TJ Brandon, 3-star TE Faraji Tucker, 3-star IOL Jeremiah Rozier and WR Mario Burks.
Evans is the name that jumps off the list. The Louisiana linebacker is described as a gritty, physical and intelligent player who finishes every snap around the football, and his style fits the way Florida State wants a linebacker to play.
The comparison made in the source is to current standout Chris Jones. Sanon is another linebacker worth watching, especially because he is an in-state recruit the Seminoles could try to land before bigger programs fully enter the picture.
There’s also one confirmed 2029 visitor: Jordan Lewis, the top recruit in South Carolina. Lewis already has 28 scholarship offers and has taken completed visits to schools such as Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia.
Florida State wants this to be an early step in building a relationship, but the battle is expected to be a long one. As Lewis keeps rising, the recruiting fight around him figures to get tougher.

Florida State Clemson Week Just Got Bigger Than The Game
Florida States Halloween home date with Clemson is shaping up to be more than just a rivalry game. The school is planning themed events around the matchup, including a drone show and a Trunk or Treat, giving the night a little extra pageantry before the Seminoles even take the field. On top of the holiday atmosphere, the program will also honor Peter Warrick with an NFF College Football Hall of Fame On-Campus Salute during the game, adding a nod to one of the programs most recognizable former stars.
The bigger off-field storyline, though, may be what comes next for the athletic department. Florida State president Richard McCullough said the search for a new athletic director will begin soon, an important step as the school looks to steady its leadership picture while the football program keeps moving through a pivotal stretch. With Clemson coming to town on a night packed with events and recognition, it is the kind of weekend that blends celebration, tradition and a little uncertainty in Tallahassee. [Read more 🡒]
Florida State Fans Just Turned On Mike Norvell In Public
Frustration around Florida States football program has spilled beyond social media and into a public campaign aimed directly at Mike Norvell. Ahead of the upcoming game against Clemson, fans have started a GoFundMe to hire an aircraft to fly a banner over campus reading FIRE MIKE NORVELL, a stark sign of how quickly patience has worn thin as the Seminoles have struggled under the current regime.
The move also speaks to a broader sense that university leadership has not done enough to answer the programs slide, even with Norvells contract extension and buyout factors in the background. Whether the banner ever flies or not, the message is clear: a vocal segment of the fan base wants a much faster response to the on-field problems, and they are now making sure everyone inside and outside the stadium knows it. FSU Line Faces A Brutal Test With Ashton Daniels At Risk
Florida States offensive line has become the obvious pressure point as the Seminoles head into a matchup that will ask a lot more of Ashton Daniels than simply extending plays with his legs. Coach Hand has been clear that the group has to do a better job in pass protection if Daniels is going to work from a cleaner pocket, and the stakes are easy to see. Daniels has been one of Florida States most dangerous threats with 354 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns, but the protection issues have also helped contribute to eight interceptions under pressure.
Clemson is hardly the kind of defense that lets an offensive line ease into anything. The Tigers have piled up 20 sacks this season and have recently been smothering opponents on the ground, holding them to low rushing totals and keeping them out of the end zone. For Florida State, the challenge is bigger than just surviving a pass rush, because Daniels best traits and the Seminoles overall rhythm may depend on whether the pocket holds long enough for the offense to function the way it wants to.
