Florida State Poised to Unleash Star Player After Roller Coaster Season

As Florida State looks to turn the tide next season, spotlighting the underutilized talent of Ousmane Kromah could be their game-changing move.

The 2025 season for Florida State football was nothing short of a wild ride. The Seminoles kicked things off with a stunning upset over Alabama, sending fans into a frenzy. But the initial euphoria quickly turned into disappointment as the team dropped seven of their last nine games, missing out on bowl eligibility.

It's remarkable how the season unraveled for Florida State, almost as if they swapped fortunes with the Miami Hurricanes. While Miami surged to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, Florida State fans were left frustrated, especially with the decision to retain head coach Mike Norvell for the 2026 season. Norvell remains in the hot seat, according to many analysts.

With the unexpected retirement of offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, Norvell now has the chance to call the plays himself. He's also promoted wide receivers coach Tim Harris Jr. to offensive coordinator, while Harris retains his role with the receivers.

This shift gives Norvell a chance to steer the ship and shape his own fate. The 2024 season was tough, but even the most innovative play-caller might have struggled with that lineup.

A significant issue last season was the revolving door at running back. The Seminoles cycled through Gavin Sawchuk, Ousmane Kromah, and Samuel Singleton Jr., never allowing any of them to find their rhythm. This offseason, they added Texas transfer Quintrevion Wisner, but Ousmane Kromah is still a key player to watch.

Kromah, a former four-star recruit, was a major get for the Seminoles, beating out programs like Georgia and Auburn. Despite his talent, he only logged 10 or more carries in two games last season. Increasing his workload could unlock a new level for Florida State's offense, making him a crucial piece in their 2026 campaign.
