Florida State heads into Saturday’s trip to Boston College with a new look and a new voice, and the Seminoles will do it in a familiar uniform combination: gold helmets, white jerseys and gold pants.
The matchup kicks off at 12:00 p.m. Eastern on ACC Network, with Florida State listed as a 6-point favorite and the over/under set at 52.5. The Seminoles are also going north for the first time since 2023 to face the Eagles in Chestnut Hill.
This is the 23rd all-time meeting between the programs, and Florida State owns a 16-6 edge in the series. The Seminoles have also won their last three games at Alumni Stadium, even though Boston College took the most recent meeting overall, a 28-13 win at home for the Eagles on Labor Day in 2024.
The coaching setup looks different for Florida State, too. Rick Stockstill is now the interim head coach after being elevated on Sunday. A Florida State Athletics Hall of Fame quarterback, Stockstill spent 2006-23 as the head coach at Middle Tennessee State, where he was a three-time conference Coach of the Year and guided the Blue Raiders to 10 bowl appearances and the first ranked win in program history.
There were more staff changes behind him. Ernie Sims was elevated to interim defensive coordinator, Tim Harris Jr. will handle playcalling on offense, and Greg Moss will lead the safeties.
On the field, Ashton Daniels has been the engine of the offense. He ranks second nationally with 15.50 yards per completion and sixth with 26 touchdowns accounted for. He’s the only quarterback with 12 passing touchdowns and 12 rushing touchdowns, and he’s one of two Power 4 quarterbacks with both a 70-yard run and a 70-yard pass this season.
Daniels has already put together a string of eye-catching performances. At No.
3 Miami, he accounted for five touchdowns, including a career-high four through the air. Earlier, he set the Florida State single-game record with five rushing touchdowns against Virginia.
His 12 rushing touchdowns are the most ever by an FSU quarterback in a season and rank sixth overall in FBS this year.
He has also been remarkably steady. Daniels has accounted for multiple touchdowns in all eight games this season, and his six games with at least one passing score and one rushing score are tied for first in the nation.
At No. 10 Alabama, he rushed for two touchdowns, threw two more and added a two-point conversion, making him one of two FBS players in 2026 with multiple rushing and passing touchdowns plus a two-point conversion.
He is also one of just three players since 1995 to do that in a road game against a Power 4 opponent.
Florida State’s receiving production has been spread around, and three players have already topped 400 yards. William V.
Campbell Trophy Finalist Duce Robinson leads the way with 24 catches for 438 yards and four touchdowns. Micahi Danzy has 23 receptions for 401 yards and three scores, while Jayvan Boggs has 21 catches for 415 yards and one touchdown.
The Seminoles have also had plenty of multi-touchdown outings from different players. That list includes Ousmane Kromah against Central Arkansas, Daniels against Virginia and Alabama, Samuel Singleton Jr. against New Mexico State, Micahi Danzy at Louisville and Robinson at Miami.
Defensively, Rylan Kennedy has been a disruptive force. He ranks 20th nationally in sacks and 23rd in tackles for loss, while leading Florida State in both categories. He has recorded at least 1.0 tackle for loss in five straight games.
Florida State’s pass rush has been one of its strengths overall, as the Seminoles rank fifth in the ACC and 15th nationally with 2.88 sacks per game. Last week against Clemson, they also produced a season-high seven pass breakups.
Special teams has been spotless, too. Gabe Panikowski is 22-for-22 on field goal attempts in his NCAA career, including 7-for-7 this season.
He is the only active qualified kicker in any NCAA division, with a minimum of 15 attempts, who has never missed in his career. His 22 straight made field goals at the NCAA level are the second-longest active streak, and Florida State has made 190 consecutive extra points dating back to 2022.

FSU Depth Chart Shakeup Raises Big Questions Before Boston College
Florida States updated depth chart ahead of Boston College came with a few notable changes, and the most eye-catching one was at quarterback. Junior Malachi Marshall is no longer listed, leaving Ashton Daniels and Kevin Sperry as the names at the position as the Seminoles keep sorting through their options heading into the matchup.
The changes did not stop there. Duce Robinson is out for the season at wide receiver, which opens the door for Jasen Lopez to move into the starting role and pushes Devin Carter into a backup spot. On defense, Cam Brooks is now the primary backup at defensive end, Deamontae Diggs has shifted inside to defensive tackle, and Daniel Lyons is listed as the starter there with Kevin Wynn sidelined, leaving Florida State with a few more lineup questions than it would prefer this late in the week. FSU Finally Showed Fight But One Bigger Question Just Started
Florida State finally had a night that looked and felt like a response, beating Boston College 31-24 and giving interim coach Rick Stockstill his first win. The Seminoles had to climb out of a second-quarter deficit to do it, and Amari Thomas was central to the turnaround, punching in two rushing touchdowns while the offense found enough rhythm to stay in the fight. The game also featured a successful fake field goal, a reminder that the staff was willing to lean on creativity to steal momentum when it mattered.
Even with the result in hand, the bigger question for Florida State is what this win actually means going forward. Beating Boston College was a needed step, and the late fourth-quarter finish showed the Seminoles could still make plays under pressure, but one victory does not erase the uncertainty around where this team is headed under Stockstill. The next stretch will tell whether this was a one-off spark or the start of something more stable. [Read more 🡒]
Florida State Finally Got The Response Fans Desperately Needed
Florida State finally got the kind of response it had been waiting for after moving on from Mike Norvell and turning the program over to interim head coach Rick Stockstill. The change gave the Seminoles a fresh voice on the sideline, and it quickly produced something the fan base had been desperate to see: a road win.
Stockstills first trip in charge ended with Florida State snapping a 12-game road losing streak by beating Boston College, a result that carried real weight beyond the standings. It was the Seminoles first road victory in nearly three seasons, a small but meaningful sign that the reset has at least begun to take hold. [Read more 🡒]
