Florida State Just Showed Fans The Version Theyve Been Missing

Florida State's dominant victory over Virginia has reignited memories of their storied past, setting a promising tone as they prepare for their next conference challenge.

Florida State finally looked the part again on Saturday, and Micahi Danzy didn’t need much time to explain why it felt so familiar.

After the Seminoles rolled past Virginia 38-7 at Doak Campbell Stadium, Danzy said the performance had the feel of a program at full throttle on both sides of the ball.

“It was amazing. You know, it felt like old Florida State being dominant on just both sides of the ball,” Danzy said after Monday's practice.

That feeling showed up everywhere in the box score. Florida State put together 38 straight points after Virginia opened the game with a touchdown, then controlled the night with a defense that never let the Cavaliers breathe again.

FSU finished with 464 total yards, piling up 281 on the ground and 183 through the air while averaging 7.1 yards per play. The Seminoles also cashed in every trip to the red zone, scoring touchdowns on all four chances.

Danzy said the week leading into the game had already built the kind of confidence that carried over once the ball was kicked off.

“So it just translated to the game like it was just another practice to us it felt like,” Danzy continued. “So that’s all it was to us. Just another practice.”

For Danzy, the outing was another step in a productive season. Through five games, he has 15 catches for 243 yards and 28 rushing yards on three carries. Across 21 career games at Florida State, he has 43 receptions for 852 yards and three touchdowns, plus 249 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries.

The defensive side was just as sharp, maybe sharper. Florida State held Virginia to 205 total yards and only 37 rushing yards on 40 carries.

The Seminoles piled up 10 sacks, limited the Cavaliers to 3 of 15 on third down and shut them out on all four fourth-down tries. After that opening-quarter touchdown, Virginia didn’t score again.

“We had five three-and-outs,” head coach Mike Norvell said on Monday. “That’s a dominant style of defense.”

Florida State also finished with 12 tackles for loss, another sign that the front seven spent the afternoon living in Virginia’s backfield.

Danzy said the work the Seminoles put in during the week was the same work they carried onto the field.

“So we just executed what we’ve been practicing,” Danzy said. “That’s all we did like what we’ve been practicing.”

Now the challenge shifts to the road. Florida State heads to Louisville on Friday at 7 p.m. ET Friday on ESPN, looking to build on its first ACC win of the season.

Kam Taylor Has A Huge Chance On Florida States New-Look Roster

Florida State heads into the 2026-27 season with a roster that looks almost nothing like the one before it, and that gives Kam Taylor a real opening to make an immediate impact. The transfer from UNC Asheville arrives in Tallahassee with a reputation for athleticism and playmaking, plus the sort of scoring rsum that suggests he can handle a major role right away.

With 12 newcomers set to make up much of the Seminoles new-look group, the early chemistry questions will be as important as any individual skill set. Taylor should be one of the most watched names when Florida State opens exhibition play against Mississippi State on Oct. 10, because the Seminoles will need to find out quickly who can help shape this roster into something cohesive. Micahi Danzy Just Framed Florida States Biggest Test After That Win

Florida States latest conference win did more than push the Seminoles above .500 in 2026. It also gave the locker room a reminder of what can happen when the team stays locked in and keeps the bigger picture in view, and Micahi Danzy was quick to point out that the challenge now is handling the moment without letting it get too big.

Danzys message fit the mood around the program: enjoy the result, stay grounded, and keep building confidence as the season moves forward. For a team trying to turn one good night into lasting momentum, the next stretch will be less about celebrating the breakthrough and more about proving it can carry over. [Read more 🡒]

Ashton Daniels Just Put Florida States Offense In A New Spotlight

Ashton Daniels breakout against Virginia did more than add another convincing win to Florida States rsum. It pushed the Seminoles offense into a new conversation, with the quarterback landing on the Davey OBrien Great 8 and the Midseason Watch List after a performance that paired efficient passing with a relentless ground game in the 38-7 rout. Daniels completed 12 passes for 183 yards, ran for 136 yards and helped the Seminoles control the game from start to finish.

The bigger takeaway is how quickly Daniels has turned one big afternoon into national recognition, while also giving Florida State a clear centerpiece for the stretch run. He was named ACC Quarterback of the Week after setting multiple school and conference marks, and teammate Andre Otto also drew league honors as ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week. The numbers from that Virginia game will get plenty of attention, but the real question now is how high Daniels can keep raising the bar. [Read more 🡒]
