Florida State Gets A Clemson Test Fans Have Been Waiting On

As the Florida State Seminoles prepare for a crucial showdown against the Clemson Tigers, fans are eager to see if the home team can break Clemson's recent winning streak at Doak Campbell Stadium while celebrating legendary achievements.

Florida State gets another shot to steady its season Saturday night, and the setup is hard to miss: a home date with Clemson, a chance to climb back to .500, and a rivalry that has tilted heavily the Tigers’ way in recent years.

The Seminoles are 3-4 overall and 1-3 in the ACC entering the 7:00 p.m. kickoff at Doak Campbell Stadium. Clemson arrives at 4-3 and 2-2 in league play, with the game set for ACCN. Florida State is listed as a 5.5-point favorite, and the over/under is 49.5 points.

History at Doak is part of the backdrop. Florida State owns a 21-17 edge in the all-time series and is 12-7 at home against Clemson, but the Tigers have taken nine of the last 10 meetings and lead 15-7 over the last 22 games. Clemson is also chasing a fifth straight win in Tallahassee, a feat that would make it only the third program ever to win five consecutive road games against FSU there, alongside Florida and Miami (Fla.).

There’s also a ceremonial note attached to the night. Florida State and the National Football Foundation will recognize Peter Warrick’s induction into the College Football Hall of Fame. Warrick, who holds the school record for career receiving touchdowns with 32, is the 12th Nole in the Hall.

On the field, Ashton Daniels has been the engine for Florida State’s offense. He accounted for five touchdowns at No.

3 Miami, including a career-high four passing scores, and had previously set the FSU single-game record with five rushing touchdowns against Virginia. His rushing touchdowns are the most in a season by an FSU quarterback and rank sixth overall in FBS this season.

Daniels has accounted for multiple touchdowns in every game this year, and his five games with at least one passing score and one rushing score are tied for second nationally and first in the ACC. He also turned in the kind of explosive plays that have defined his season, with an 81-yard touchdown run against Virginia and a 75-yard touchdown pass at Miami. He is the only player this season with a 70-yard pass and an 80-yard rush.

The numbers around Daniels keep stacking up. He leads the ACC and ranks fourth nationally with 15.26 yards per completion.

Against Virginia, he threw for 183 yards, ran for a career-high 136 yards and totaled five touchdowns, making him the only FBS player since at least 1995 to hit those marks in a game. At Alabama, he rushed for two touchdowns, threw for two more and added a two-point conversion, making him one of two FBS players in 2026 with multiple rushing and passing touchdowns plus a two-point conversion.

He is also one of only three players since 1995 to do that in a road game against a Power 4 opponent.

Duce Robinson has been the top target in the passing game, leading FSU with 22 catches for 407 yards and four touchdowns. He was also named a finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy last week, making him Florida State’s first finalist since 2010.

Florida State’s scoring distribution has been spread around all season. The Seminoles have had a player score multiple touchdowns in six of seven games: Ousmane Kromah against Central Arkansas, Daniels against Virginia and Alabama, Samuel Singleton Jr. against New Mexico State, Micahi Danzy at Louisville, and Robinson at Miami.

Defensively, FSU is coming off one of its sharpest performances of the year against Virginia. The Seminoles allowed just 2.85 yards per play and only 0.9 yards per rush, holding the Cavaliers to 205 yards on 72 plays and 37 rushing yards on 40 carries.

Florida State finished with 10 sacks, one shy of the school record and the program’s most in a game since 1997. The sack total matched the most in an ACC game since 2005, and the 37 rushing yards were FSU’s fewest in an ACC game since Syracuse also managed 37 in 2016.

Rylan Kennedy has been the leader up front, ranking 12th nationally in sacks and 22nd in tackles for loss while pacing the Seminoles in both categories. He has recorded at least 1.0 sack in four straight games. As a team, Florida State ranks fifth in the ACC and 19th nationally with 2.71 sacks per game.

Special teams has been spotless, too. Gabe Paniowski is 21-for-21 on field goal attempts in his NCAA career, including 6-for-6 this season. He is the only active qualified kicker in any NCAA division, with at least 15 attempts, who has never missed in his career.

FSU May Be Getting Needed Defensive Help At The Perfect Time

Florida States defense may be getting a timely boost as the Seminoles head into Saturday nights rivalry game with Clemson, a matchup carrying plenty of weight for both sides after recent underperformance. The latest injury update brought some encouraging news, with linebackers Chris Jones and Caleb LaVallee and defensive back Jordan Crutchfield now expected to be available.

The Seminoles also tweaked the status of defensive back K.J. Kirkland and added defensive back Charles Lester III and kicker Conor McAneney to the availability report, leaving a little more clarity but not a full picture just yet. Against a Clemson team dealing with its own pressure, any added depth on defense could matter, especially in a game where Florida State needs to steady itself and make sure the right pieces are on the field when it counts. Florida State Faces A Clemson Test It Desperately Needs To Pass

Florida State gets a chance to reset the conversation Saturday when Clemson comes to Doak Campbell Stadium for an ACC matchup that suddenly carries a lot more weight than the records might suggest. The Seminoles are 3-4 under Mike Norvell, and with Clemson sitting at 4-3 under Dabo Swinney, this has the feel of a game both programs can use as a turning point in late October.

The setting only adds to the pressure, with kickoff set for Halloween night in Tallahassee and the game slated for the ACC Network with Wes Durham, Max Browne and Madison Fitzpatrick on the call. For Florida State, the challenge is obvious: handle a familiar league heavyweight at home and give itself something tangible to build on as the season moves into its final stretch. [Read more 🡒]

FSU Is Turning Clemson Night Into A Much Bigger Doak Event

Florida State is turning its Clemson night into more than just a marquee ACC matchup, with the university rolling out Operation Garnet Storm to give Doak Campbell Stadium a bigger stage before kickoff. The game is set for 7 p.m., but the fan experience will start hours earlier with Halloween activities, military tributes and a celebration of Seminoles legend Peter Warrick, all aimed at making the atmosphere feel like an event from the moment people arrive.

The school is also leaning into the kind of extras that make a home game feel personal, offering fans the chance to buy customized touches such as videoboard messages and on-field access. Add in a drone show and enhanced pyrotechnics, and Florida State is clearly trying to make Clemson night feel less like a standard regular-season date and more like a full-scale Doak showcase.
