College Football 27 is officially out in the wild - at least for the players who get in early.
EA Sports’ latest entry in the revived college football series arrives in three waves, with the full release set for Thursday, July 9. But the first chance to jump in starts today, July 2, for MVP+ subscribers. Players who bought the Deluxe Edition or the MVP Bundle with Madden 27 will get access on Monday, July 6.
This year’s game is the most expansive version yet. All 138 FBS teams are in, including North Dakota State and Sacramento State, and the headline mode, Dynasty, has been reworked to better reflect how coaches, staffs, facilities and players are funded in the real world. The result is a deeper setup, with budget management now sitting much closer to the center of the experience.
Miami comes into the game with one of the strongest team ratings in the country, and Florida fans will also see a respectable number next to the Gators. Florida State, UCF, South Florida, Florida Atlantic and FIU round out the state’s ratings list, with Miami leading the way at 88 overall. Florida is at 84, Florida State at 82, UCF at 81, South Florida at 77, Florida Atlantic at 76 and FIU at 73.
For players hoping to take the game on the road, College Football 27 will also be available on PC for the first time since the franchise returned. The game is set for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, the EA App, Steam and Epic Games.
EA Sports also revealed its top player ratings, and Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith sits alone at the top with a 99. Indiana left tackle Carter Smith and Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore are next at 97. A cluster of 96-rated players follows: Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy, Missouri left tackle Cayden Green, Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy and Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney.
The 95s include Texas edge rusher Colin Simmons, Oregon quarterback Dante Moore, Iowa center Kade Pieper and Georgia free safety KJ Bolden. Among the 94s are Alabama free safety Bray Hubbard, Oklahoma defensive tackle David Stone, Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin, Oregon edge rusher Matayo Uiagalelei and Texas left tackle Trevor Goosby.
There are more additions across the board, too. Road to Glory now includes edge rusher, tight end and safety as playable positions, and players can again move their created athletes into Madden 27’s Superstar mode. The game also brings back Mascot Mashup, with more than 120 mascots available.
On the presentation side, Joel Klatt takes over from Kirk Herbstreit in the broadcast booth, while Chris Fowler returns on play-by-play and Holly Rowe makes her game debut on the sidelines.
Gameplay tweaks include a new quarterback sneak meter, smart zones, improved double teams, red-zone-specific coverages and dynamic weather that changes field conditions after each quarter.
The revamped Coaching Carousel also lets players see other schools’ budgets and rosters, and a new Coach Mode hands gameplay over to the computer so users can focus only on play-calling.
As for pricing, the Standard Edition costs $69.99, the Deluxe Edition is $99.99 and the MVP Bundle, which includes the Deluxe Editions of College Football 27 and Madden 27, is $149.99.
