Florida State Commit Gregory Batson Locks In Key June Visit

Florida State takes another step in solidifying its 2027 recruiting class as linebacker commit Gregory Batson sets his official visit date.

Florida State continues to solidify its future on defense, with linebacker commit Gregory Batson now set to take his official visit to Tallahassee the weekend of June 5.

Batson, a 6-foot-1, 208-pound prospect out of Lee County High School in Leesburg, Georgia, has been on FSU’s radar for quite some time-and clearly, the interest is mutual. He committed to the Seminoles back in November of 2025 and has remained steady in that pledge, even as other programs continue to push.

He was most recently in Tallahassee for Junior Day in January, where he reaffirmed that he’s locked in with the Seminoles. And it’s not just talk-Batson has been a consistent presence around the program throughout his recruitment, building familiarity with the coaching staff and the environment.

That said, the recruiting trail is rarely quiet. Georgia Tech and Mississippi State have both been working hard to stay in the mix, making it clear they see big potential in Batson’s game. But so far, it’s FSU that’s held his attention.

From a rankings standpoint, there’s a bit of a split. 247Sports lists him as a three-star and the No. 17 linebacker in the 2027 class. But when you look at the 247Sports Composite, which blends rankings from multiple outlets, Batson gets a bump-he’s a four-star there, ranked as the No. 307 overall prospect and No. 20 linebacker nationally.

Those numbers reflect a player with solid upside and room to grow, especially in a system that knows how to develop defensive talent. Batson brings a physical edge to his game, and while he may not be the flashiest name in the class, his consistency and football IQ have caught the attention of more than just the Seminoles’ staff.

With his official visit now on the calendar, Florida State will get another opportunity to solidify that bond and continue building toward what’s shaping up to be a strong 2027 defensive class.
