Florida State Adds Key Recruiting Figure to Bolster Football Operations

Florida State makes a bold move to elevate its recruiting power by tapping a seasoned personnel veteran with deep SEC and ACC ties.

Florida State continues to make moves behind the scenes, and their latest addition signals a clear commitment to building a top-tier recruiting and personnel operation. The Seminoles are set to bring in Taylor Edwards as their new Executive Director of Player Acquisitions, according to multiple sources - a key front office hire that adds serious experience to the program’s off-field infrastructure.

Edwards arrives in Tallahassee after a brief but significant stint at Miami, where he held a high-ranking personnel position. Though his time with the Hurricanes was short - he joined them in January - he was already playing a central role in their recruiting and roster-building efforts. His move to Florida State isn’t just a lateral shift; it’s a strategic step for the Seminoles as they continue to build out a more sophisticated and competitive recruiting operation.

This isn’t Edwards’ first time making waves in the ACC. Before Miami, North Carolina was also in the mix for his services, a testament to how highly regarded he is across the college football landscape.

His resume reads like a tour through the heart of SEC and Power Five recruiting operations. Prior to his time in Coral Gables, Edwards served as Director of Player Personnel at South Carolina, a role he took on in February 2021. There, he helped shape the Gamecocks’ recruiting strategy during a critical stretch of program development.

Before South Carolina, he spent two seasons at Maryland as Director of Recruiting Operations, where he helped lay the foundation for the Terrapins’ recruiting infrastructure. In 2018, he held the Director of Recruiting title at Arkansas, further sharpening his skills in talent evaluation and roster management.

One of the more formative stops in his career came in 2017, when he joined Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama as a Player Personnel Assistant. Working within the Crimson Tide’s powerhouse system - widely regarded as one of the most efficient and effective in the country - gave Edwards a front-row seat to what elite recruiting looks like at the highest level.

His earlier roles include Director of Player Personnel at Samford and Director of Recruiting at UAB, where he began in 2014. Edwards first entered the college football personnel world in 2013 at Jacksonville State, getting his start as an assistant in personnel and operations.

A native of Pleasant Grove, Alabama, Edwards brings not just a deep understanding of the recruiting landscape in the Southeast, but also a career built on hands-on experience across multiple conferences and programs. He earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Montevallo in 2011, and later completed his master’s in sport and fitness administration at Troy University in 2013.

For Florida State, this hire isn’t just about adding another name to the staff - it’s about continuing to evolve the program’s approach to roster building in a college football era where front office strategy matters as much as on-field execution. With Taylor Edwards stepping into this key role, the Seminoles are signaling that they’re not just recruiting talent - they’re building a system to sustain it.
