The Florida Panthers already have the kind of roster that can make life miserable for the rest of the league, but there’s still room for a few players to push this thing even further. Between rising young talent, established contributors, and a major new addition, five names stand out as the ones most likely to make a real jump this season.
Sandis Vilmanis is one of the more intriguing wild cards. In the 2025-26 season, he skated in 19 NHL games and put up three goals and two assists for five points.
He also finished at minus-1 with four penalty minutes, 15 shots on goal, and 39 hits while averaging 10:24 of ice time per game. That NHL sample was small, but his work in the AHL hinted at a much bigger offensive ceiling.
With the Charlotte Checkers, he played 48 games and piled up 17 goals and 21 assists for 38 points, finishing plus-17 with 26 penalty minutes. If he gets a regular look with the Panthers, there’s a real chance his scoring translates in a bigger way.
Anton Lundell is another player who looks ready for more. The 12th overall pick in the 2020 Draft appeared in 64 games last season and produced 18 goals and 26 assists for 44 points, finishing minus-8.
He’s already logged serious postseason mileage too, with 77 playoff games across four runs and 12 goals and 34 assists for 46 points. After posting 45 and 44 points over the last two seasons, the next step could come with stronger linemates and the fact that he’s entering his 25-year-old season, a point when plenty of NHL players start to hit their stride.
Eetu Luostarinen gives the Panthers another breakout possibility down the middle of the lineup. Projected for the third line, he played 73 games in the 2025-26 season and finished with 11 goals and 22 assists for 33 points, along with 32 penalty minutes and a plus-4 rating.
He has also been a steady playoff contributor, putting up 10 goals and 24 assists for 34 points in 73 postseason games over four runs. Add in his time with Finland at both the Olympics and the 4 Nations Face-Off, and the profile is there for another bump if he gets steady partners and the right offensive assignments alongside Lundell and Brad Marchand.
On the blue line, Gustav Forsling is the most obvious candidate to climb another rung. He played all 80 games last season and finished with two goals and 26 assists for 28 points, plus 51 penalty minutes and a minus-5 rating.
In the playoffs, he’s been a consistent presence with eight goals and 23 assists in 84 games. He’s also represented Team Sweden at both the 4 Nations Face-Off and the Olympics.
Forsling has already built a reputation as a shutdown defender, and with so much talent in front of him, he could see his offensive numbers rise. Even without a big scoring jump, there’s room for him to get even better defensively and strengthen his case as one of the league’s top defensive defensemen.
Then there’s Brady Tkachuk, the new face in South Florida and the biggest name on this list. He arrives as an established NHL player, but his setting with the Panthers could unlock even more production.
In his last season with the Ottawa Senators, he scored 22 goals and added 37 assists for 59 points in 60 games, while also recording 71 penalty minutes and finishing minus-4. Now he could be stepping into a top-line role next to Aleksander Barkov, with more talent around him at five-on-five and on the power play.
With that kind of setup, the idea of 50 goals or 100 points is at least on the table. He’s already shown he can score and bring the physical edge that fits what the Panthers are about.
These five are the clearest candidates to take the next step for Florida. The roster is deep, and there aren’t many open jobs, but that’s part of what makes the opportunities so interesting. If these players seize them, the Panthers could get even more dangerous.
