As the Florida Gators' season unfolds, a few standout names have been grabbing headlines. Thomas Haugh and Rueben Chinyelu have made waves with their performances, while Xaivian Lee and Boogie Fland have navigated their own ups and downs.
Urban Klavzar has also emerged as a key contributor off the bench. Yet, it's Alex Condon, once the preseason favorite, who is now stepping into the spotlight.
Condon has been making a significant impact
Despite facing challenges on the road against Texas, where Haugh struggled with an ankle injury and Chinyelu dealt with foul trouble, Condon rose to the occasion. For the third consecutive game, he surpassed the 20-point mark, delivering a stellar performance with 23 points, four rebounds, three assists, and four blocks.
This resurgence marks a stark contrast to his earlier performances, like the one-point game against Auburn and a four-point outing against Texas A&M. Condon's recent form serves as a testament to Florida's depth as they prepare for the NCAA Tournament. While many teams might falter with key players underperforming, Coach Todd Golden can confidently rely on Condon to lead the charge.
Reflecting on his recent success, Condon shared:
"I've found a rhythm these last few games. My teammates are getting me the ball and trusting me to make the right plays. I didn't feel like I forced anything tonight and just let the game come to me."
Condon's performance will be closely watched in the offseason. Although currently projected as a fringe first-round pick, his continued excellence could significantly influence Florida's journey in March, regardless of draft predictions.
