Selena Harris-Miranda Stuns as Florida Gymnastics Rewrites History Again

Selena Harris-Miranda's perfect performance leads Florida gymnastics to a record-breaking triumph over Kentucky, setting the stage for the upcoming SEC Championship.

Florida Gymnastics Shatters Records with Stellar Performance at Kentucky

The Florida Gators gymnastics team delivered a performance for the ages against Kentucky, rewriting their own record books just days after a standout meet against LSU.

On a day when Florida's men's basketball and softball teams also triumphed over Kentucky, it was the gymnastics squad that truly stole the spotlight. Competing at the Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, the Gators outscored the Wildcats 198.575 to 197.225. This remarkable score not only surpassed their recent achievement at LSU but also tied the third-highest in program history, matching a performance against Auburn in 2022 and ranking as the 10th highest in gymnastics history.

Selena Harris-Miranda was the star of the night, clinching the meet with a perfect 10 on beam. While the victory was already in hand, her flawless routine etched the night into the annals of Gator history. eMjae Frazier contributed with an impressive 9.975 earlier in the beam lineup, helping the team tie their highest beam score ever at 49.800, matching a previous mark set just weeks ago.

From the outset, the Gators were in top form. They opened with a stunning 49.725 on bars, fueled by consecutive 9.950s from Skye Blakely, Kayla DiCello, Harris-Miranda, and Riley McCusker.

On vault, Blakely led with a 9.900, contributing to a season-best tying score of 49.475. Although the floor routine saw a slight dip from a previous 49.750, the team still posted an impressive 49.575.

Harris-Miranda's excellence extended across all events, as she secured the all-around title for the second consecutive week with a 39.775, narrowly edging out Blakely's 39.750.

With a regular season record of 12-2 and 6-2 in SEC play, the Gators now turn their attention to the SEC Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma, set for Saturday, March 21. This team is clearly on a roll, and the gymnastics world will be watching to see what they accomplish next.
