Kyle Trask And Walter Clayton Jr Just Got Another Shot

Kyle Trask and Walter Clayton Jr. are determined to revive their athletic careers with fresh opportunities from major Dallas sports franchises.

Former Florida quarterback Kyle Trask is getting another shot in the NFL, and this one comes with the Dallas Cowboys.

Trask, who was cut by the Carolina Panthers in August, has landed on Dallas’ practice squad. The Cowboys made the move after signing Juanyeh Thomas to the active roster and waiving cornerback Caelen Carson.

Trask’s path back has been a winding one. Drafted by the Tampa Buccaneers out of Florida in 2021, he spent five seasons with the team but appeared in only seven games, including one in 2022, two in 2023, and one in 2024. He did not play in 2025 after losing the backup job to Teddy Bridgewater and suffering a shoulder injury before being released by Tampa Bay in August 2025.

Across his time with the Buccaneers, Trask completed 4 of 11 passes for 28 yards. He also rushed six times for minus-5 yards.

Since leaving Tampa Bay, Trask has kept finding doors open at the next stop. Over the last year, he has been with the Atlanta Falcons practice squad, the Carolina Panthers, and now Dallas’ practice squad. He is 28 and hoping this latest chance sticks.

Walter Clayton Jr. also found himself back in uniform Wednesday night after being waived by the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.

Clayton was drafted by the Washington Wizards in the first round of the 2025 NBA draft and traded that same night to the Utah Jazz. Over the past year, he played in 69 total games between Utah and Memphis. In that stretch, he made 177 of 461 field goals, shot 38.4 percent, connected on 75 of 244 three-pointers for 30.7 percent, and scored 538 points.

Dallas signed Clayton to a two-way contract on Wednesday and activated the former Gator guard for its matchup against Houston.

Dusty May also spoke about his connection to Clayton, saying, “He unofficially visited us at FAU so I’ve known him for a long time and then he was my son’s roommate at Florida, so…”

While those two former Gators were moving in professional sports, current Florida gymnasts Sky Blakely and Dulcy Caylor were helping the United States at the 2026 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships.

Blakely and Caylor were part of the U.S. team that finished as runners-up at the event. Blakely, competing in her fourth World Championship, posted a 14.300 on vault, a 14.400 on uneven bars, and a 13.266 on balance beam.

Caylor delivered the third-highest floor exercise score with a 13.600 and added a 12.333 on beam. The result gave Blakely her third World Championships medal.

Jon Sumralls Late-Game Mindset Said Everything About Florida Vs Texas

With the game against Texas hanging in the balance late in the fourth quarter, Jon Sumralls thinking spoke volumes about how Florida wanted to finish. Rather than settle for a field goal, the Gators coach made it clear he preferred to pick up the first down and keep control of the moment, trusting the offense to do what it needed to do in a pressure spot.

Florida never had to find out what the alternative would have looked like. On a critical third down, Tramell Jones ran for nine yards to seal the win, removing any debate about the choice Sumrall might have faced if the play had come up short. It was the kind of endgame sequence that reflected a coach willing to be aggressive and a team capable of delivering when the situation demanded it. [Read more 🡒]
