Florida needed a disruptive night from Jayden Woods, and it got one.
The Gators’ linebacker and edge rusher delivered his clearest statement yet on Saturday against Auburn, piling up six tackles - five solo - with an assist in Florida’s 44-39 win. He was everywhere when the game needed a jolt, and the numbers back it up: 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
Through three games, Woods has 15 total tackles, including 10 solo stops, along with five assists and three sacks. Against Auburn, he also made his presence felt in the pressure game. Per PFF, Florida generated 41 pressures, and Woods accounted for 11 of them.
Even with that kind of disruption, PFF gave him a 68.9 grade for the game, which only adds to the odd contrast of the night. He also appeared to be getting grabbed repeatedly.

That performance marked a sharp turn from the chatter around Woods after the first two games, when some questioned whether he had done enough to stand out. That makes next week against Ole Miss the next obvious test, and if Saturday was any indication, Woods is becoming the kind of impact player Florida can lean on.
