Florida Extends Offer to Rising QB Prospect Davin Davidson During Junior Day
While all eyes were on Champ Monds during Florida’s Junior Day - and rightfully so, given his recent reclassification to the 2027 class and status as one of the top quarterback prospects in the country - the Gators made a quieter but potentially significant move with another signal-caller. Florida extended an offer to Davin Davidson, a lesser-known name nationally, but a quarterback who’s starting to turn heads with a strong blend of size, poise, and production.
Davidson, a three-star prospect out of Sarasota’s Cardinal Mooney High School, checks in at an imposing 6’6” and 210 pounds. He took over the starting job this past season and didn’t just manage the offense - he led it with authority.
Davidson threw for 2,360 yards and 23 touchdowns, capping off the year by guiding the Cougars to a dominant win over Bolles in the 2A state championship game. That kind of performance, on that kind of stage, tends to get noticed - and Florida wasn’t the only school paying attention.
What stands out on film is Davidson’s composure. He doesn’t get rattled in the pocket, even when things start to collapse around him.
He consistently delivers the ball into tight windows and shows a natural feel for throwing on the move - something that doesn’t always come easy for taller quarterbacks with longer frames. While he’s not a dual-threat QB in the traditional sense, he has enough mobility to escape pressure and extend plays when needed.
Right now, Davidson is only ranked by 247Sports, but that’s likely to change soon. His physical tools, championship pedigree, and recent surge in offers suggest he’s trending upward. He may not have the pure arm strength or polish of a player like Monds - who’s already being talked about in five-star territory - but Davidson has the kind of upside that could see him rise into four-star range once the rankings catch up to the tape.
Florida’s offer comes at a time when Davidson’s recruitment is starting to pick up serious steam. In just the past week, he’s added offers from Duke, Miami, Iowa, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, and Florida State. That’s a strong list of Power Five programs, and it’s growing quickly.
Whether Davidson makes it back to Gainesville for the spring game or an official visit this summer remains to be seen, but there’s no question the Gators are now firmly in the mix. With his size, poise, and upward trajectory, Davidson is a name to watch as the 2027 quarterback class begins to take shape - and Florida’s early interest could pay off down the road.
