Florida will be without one of its starting defensive tackles Saturday night, and the Gators are also juggling a few other key injury questions heading into Oklahoma.
Jeramiah McCloud has been suspended for the game for conduct detrimental to the team, Florida said in a statement Wednesday. The sophomore from Georgia, listed at 6-foot-3 and 294 pounds, is currently out on the SEC’s intitial availability report. His status will be re-evaluated after the contest.
McCloud has been a regular part of the rotation for the No. 24 Gators, who enter at 5-3 overall and 3-3 in the SEC.
He has started five of eight games and has posted 22 tackles, second on the team to senior Brendan Bett’s 23. McCloud also leads Florida with six quarterback hurries and shares the team lead with three pass break-ups.
With McCloud unavailable, Bett, sophomore Joseph Mbatchou, senior Jamari Lyons and freshman Stive-Bentley Keumajou-Yondui are expected to handle the tackle spots against the Sooners, who are 4-4 and 2-3 in the SEC.
Florida’s receiving group is also still dealing with injury issues. Sophomore Vernell Brown III is trending toward missing his fifth straight game because of a right knee injury after being listed as doubtful. Brown aggravated the knee in practice last Wednesday, had it drained Thursday and then underwent a platelet-rich plasma procedure Monday in an effort to speed up the recovery.
Bailey Stockton has stepped into that role, but he is listed as questionable after a productive outing against Georgia. He led the Gators with eight catches for 76 yards, including 41 after the catch, and added 31 yards on two punt returns.
Defensive end Emmanuel Oyebadejo is also questionable. The Jacksonville State transfer has started four of the past five games and shares the team lead with Jayden Woods with 4.5 sacks. The 6-foot-6, 303-pound Oyebadejo also has five QB hurries and three pass break-ups.
Florida has three players listed out besides McCloud. Starting right tackle Emekga Ugori will not play, and senior Caden Jones, who started 10 games in 2025, is expected to take his place. Tight end Evan Chieca is also out against Oklahoma.

Floridas Receiver Situation Just Got More Frustrating Before Oklahoma
Floridas receiver room is already thin enough to make every availability report worth watching, and Vernell Browns status has only added to the uncertainty. He was listed as probable for the Georgia game but never took the field, and now he enters the Oklahoma matchup tagged as doubtful, leaving his injury situation unresolved at a time when the Gators can least afford more questions on offense.
The broader picture is just as uneasy. Florida goes into the Oklahoma game with four players ruled out and two more listed as questionable, while the quarterback situation remains unsettled as well. For a team trying to steady itself late in the season, the availability report has become almost as important as the game plan. [Read more 🡒]
Florida Faces One Big Question With Bowl Hopes Back At Home
Florida is back at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium with its bowl path still in front of it, but the margin for error is getting thinner after the loss to Georgia. The Gators sit at 5-3 overall and 3-3 in SEC play, and now they get an Oklahoma team that arrives at 4-4 and trying to steady itself after falling to South Carolina. The matchup has enough weight on its own, and the betting line reflects that Florida is expected to handle business at home as a one-touchdown favorite.
Even so, the biggest question around this one is still the quarterback situation, which has become a real concern because of recent performances and injuries. Florida does not need perfection to keep its postseason hopes on track, but it does need more stability than it has shown lately, especially with an SEC game that could help define the rest of the season. How the Gators manage that spot will go a long way toward determining whether this trip back home feels like a reset or another missed opportunity. [Read more 🡒]
Florida Fans Just Got A Painful Reminder About Olivier Rioux
Olivier Riouxs first game for UC Irvine offered a reminder of why Florida fans had been tracking his development so closely before he left Gainesville. The 7-foot-9 center, the tallest player in Division I basketball, stepped into his new role and immediately looked comfortable in the win over Chapman, giving the Anteaters a glimpse of the size and presence that made him such a notable figure during his two seasons with the Gators.
Riouxs debut also underscored how unusual his path has been. After transferring from Florida, he has already carved out a place in the record book as the tallest player to start a Division I game, and his first outing at UC Irvine suggested he can be more than just a curiosity. For Florida, it is the kind of development that brings a little sting with it, especially when a former player wastes no time making an impression elsewhere. [Read more 🡒]
