Florida continues to reshape its wide receiver room for 2026, and the latest addition brings an intriguing mix of upside and untapped potential.
On Monday, the Gators landed former Indiana receiver Ace Ciongoli out of the transfer portal. While he didn’t see the field in 2025 for the Hoosiers, Ciongoli arrives in Gainesville with a full four years of eligibility remaining - a rarity in the transfer era and a valuable asset for a program looking to build long-term depth at the position.
Ciongoli, a Massachusetts native from Needham, initially joined Indiana as a walk-on and flew under the radar during his high school recruitment. No major scholarship offers came his way, but he earned a spot with the Hoosiers and now finds himself with a fresh start in the SEC. For Florida, this is a low-risk, high-ceiling move - the kind of depth play that can quietly pay off down the road.
The Gators have been aggressive in the portal this offseason under head coach Jon Sumrall. Ciongoli is the 26th transfer Florida has brought in, part of a sweeping roster overhaul that has the program’s transfer class sitting at No. 27 nationally, according to 247Sports. The sheer volume of additions speaks to a clear strategy: reload quickly, especially at positions of need.
Wide receiver, in particular, has been a focal point. Ciongoli joins a revamped group that already includes Jaylen Lloyd (Oklahoma State), Eric Singleton (Auburn), Micah Mays (Wake Forest), and Bailey Stockton (Georgia Tech). That’s five new faces in one room, each with different skill sets and backgrounds, all vying for a chance to make an impact in a system that’s expected to lean on speed and versatility.
For Ciongoli, the opportunity is clear. With four years to develop and compete, he enters a wide-open competition where reps will be earned, not guaranteed.
He may not have the headlines that some of his fellow transfers bring, but every roster needs players who are hungry, coachable, and ready to prove something. Florida just added another one of those.
