Florida's junior forward, Thomas Haugh, is making waves in the college basketball scene, racking up prestigious postseason honors. On Wednesday, Haugh was recognized by both the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), earning spots on the Second-Team and Third-Team All-America lists, respectively.
This isn't Haugh's first brush with accolades this season. He's already been named an All-American by The Sporting News (Second-Team) and the Associated Press (Third-Team). Plus, he snagged First-Team Division I All-District (Southeast) honors from the NABC just a day prior.
Haugh has been a powerhouse for the Gators, leading the team with an impressive 17.1 points per game. His contributions extend beyond scoring, as he averages 6.2 rebounds, two assists, 1.1 steals, and one block per game. His performance has been pivotal in Florida's success, especially in his inaugural season as a starter.
Haugh's achievements place him in elite company. He's only the second player in Florida's history to earn All-America selections from all four major consensus selectors, joining Walter Clayton Jr.
(2025). Notably, Gators legends Joakim Noah (2007) and Scottie Wilbekin (2014) were recognized by three of the four selectors.
Adding to his list of accolades, Haugh was also named a First-Team All-SEC selection by both the conference's coaches and the AP.
The Gators, riding high on Haugh's contributions, secured a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament's South Region. This marks the program's fourth time earning a top seed.
They're set to face either Prairie View A&M or Lehigh University in the Round of 64 in Tampa on Friday at 9:25 p.m. ET.
Florida is entering its 24th NCAA Tournament appearance and the third consecutive one under coach Golden. The team boasts a 6-1 record in the tournament under his leadership, including last season's national championship run.
The Gators are on a hot streak, having won 12 of their last 13 games. This includes an impressive 11-game winning streak in conference play to close out the regular season. They also secured a 71-63 victory over Kentucky in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals before falling to Vanderbilt in the semifinals.
