Florida’s first commitment in the 2027 class is in, and the Gators got it from a skilled forward who brings size, toughness and a big workload on both ends.
Ian Condon, a 6-foot-7, 220-pound power forward from Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., announced for Florida on Tuesday afternoon. He made the decision live on CBS Sports’ Youtube page.
“Florida's just a super high-level program with an amazing winning culture, and they encourage player continuity,” Condon, who committed live on CBS Sports' Youtube page, said. “I had a great time on the visit, I got to meet the entire staff, bond with the players, got a really great feel for the environment both on and off the court. I'm excited to get down to The Swamp next year.”
247Sports lists Condon as the No. 14 power forward and No. 77 overall prospect in the 2027 class. He picked the Gators over Syracuse, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Boston College, NC State, Stanford and Georgia Tech.
His official visit to Florida came on Sept. 5, and it was his penultimate official trip as he moved toward a decision before Signing Day in November.
The commitment also fits a bigger recruiting picture for Todd Golden’s program. Florida signed just one high school player in the class of 2026, 7-foot center Jones Lay, while also adding international players Domen Petrovic, 22, and Arturas Butajevas, 19, after the 2025-26 season ended. With several key names set to wrap up their college careers this season - Thomas Haugh, Alex Condon, Rueben Chinyelu, Urban Klavzar, AJ Brown and Denzel Aberdeen - the Gators’ need to keep the pipeline moving is obvious.
247Sports Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein described Condon as an inside-out forward who brings power, skill and a high motor. Finkelstein noted Condon’s broad frame, strong upper body, “tree trunk legs,” “glaring power,” and deceptive length, while also emphasizing how hard he plays.
Offensively, Condon put up more than 18 points per game in the EYBL and shot 36% from three on nearly seven attempts a night. He has a high release, uses a wider base and gets into his shot with a hop, though he can also knock down wrong-footed threes.
He profiles as a pick-and-pop threat who can run to the arc in transition and be used as a movement shooter. He also has enough touch to shoot over defenders in the mid-range.
Inside, he leans on strength, footwork and fakes, but finished at just a 44% clip at the rim. His playmaking numbers were less tidy - 1.2 assists against 1.9 turnovers - though Finkelstein said he projects as a better ball-mover than those stats suggest, with room to improve as a handler and passer in traffic.
Defensively, Finkelstein said Condon can get flat-footed and will have to make up for that with physicality, a low center of gravity and detail. Even so, his motor should help him hold up. On the glass, he was a productive rebounder with 6.5 boards per game, including 2.1 offensive rebounds, using strength and strong hands to win loose balls in traffic.

The receiver hurt his right knee in that matchup, yet MRI results showed no long-term damage, leaving Florida with reason for optimism as it turns its attention to Missouri.
Jon Sumrall said Browns availability will come down to pain tolerance and confidence, which makes the next few days especially important.
