Florida Just Got Another Painful Reminder In The Georgia Rivalry

With an unyielding defense and a commanding ground game, the Bulldogs extended their dominance over the Gators in the annual rivalry clash.

Georgia didn’t just beat Florida on Saturday - it squeezed the life out of the Gators in a 27-8 win that gave the Bulldogs their sixth straight Cocktail Party victory.

Kirby Smart’s team did what it has done so often in this matchup: force mistakes, punish them, and never let Florida settle in. The Gators cycled through Aaron Philo and Tramell Jones at quarterback, but neither could get the offense moving with any consistency. By the time Florida finally pieced together some late fourth-quarter production, the game was already out of reach.

The turning point came early, when Philo - the veteran Georgia Tech transfer - was chosen by head coach Jon Sumrall over Jones after Jones had led Florida to a surprising win over Texas. Philo’s day started badly and got worse from there, as he threw an ill-advised interception while trying to escape Georgia pressure. That giveaway was the first of four Florida turnovers on the night, and Georgia made it count.

The Bulldogs turned the takeaway into points with a 41-yard drive in eight plays, finishing it off with a touchdown run from Nate Frazier. Frazier was everywhere for Georgia.

He ran for 67 yards on 12 carries and scored the opening touchdown, then added a 10-yard reception as well. As a team, Georgia piled up 208 rushing yards while holding Florida to just 40.

Georgia’s defense kept the pressure on until the first half ended with a dagger. Chris Cole tracked down a Jones fumble, caused by Quintavius Johnson, and took it back for a touchdown to push the Bulldogs ahead 24-0. The play underscored the gap in effort and execution that defined the day.

The win moves Georgia to 7-1 with four games left in the 2026 regular season. The closing stretch won’t be easy: the Bulldogs head to Ole Miss next week, then face Mizzou, travel to South Carolina and finish with Georgia Tech.

Florida Heads Into Georgia With One Big WR Concern

Floridas passing game could be shorthanded when it walks into one of the seasons biggest tests. Vernell Brown III and Bailey Stockton are both listed as questionable for the upcoming matchup against No. 3 Georgia, leaving the Gators with uncertainty at a position group that already shapes how much balance they can bring into Week 9.

Brown has not played since late September because of a knee injury, while Stocktons status has moved in the right direction after being listed as doubtful earlier in the week. Even that modest upgrade matters, because Florida will need as many healthy options as it can get if it wants to challenge Georgia through the air. [Read more 🡒]

Floridas Georgia Upset Hopes Suddenly Hinge On One Late Question

Florida heads into Atlanta with the kind of uncertainty that can change a game plan before kickoff, and it starts with Vernell Brown III. The wide receiver was downgraded to questionable on the injury report, leaving the Gators to sort through what their offense looks like if one of its more important pieces is limited or unavailable against Georgia.

That matters because Florida is trying to line up an upset with a plan that already has to hold up in a tough matchup on both sides of the ball. The Gators will need their offense to function without much margin for error, and their defense will have to decide whether its blitz-heavy approach can disrupt Gunner Stockton enough to tilt the game. For Florida, the path to an upset is still there, but it may come down to how much Brown can give them and whether the pressure package can do its job. [Read more 🡒]

Tim Tebow Calls Out What Had Florida Falling Apart Vs Georgia

Floridas halftime hole against Georgia had already turned the game into a familiar kind of frustration, and Tim Tebow did not need much time to identify why. Working the break with Roman Harper, Tebow pointed to the Gators turnovers, penalties and lopsided time of possession as the reasons the game had gotten away from them, with Florida staring at a 24-0 deficit after a first half that never found any rhythm.

The mistakes were especially costly. Florida threw two interceptions and also watched a fumble get returned for a touchdown by Georgias Chris Cole, a sequence that left little margin for recovery. Tebow and Harper talked through what Florida would need to change after the break, including getting the quarterback more involved as a runner, but the larger question was whether the Gators could clean up enough of the self-inflicted damage to make the second half competitive.
