Florida is adding a very early-stage defensive line prospect to the mix, and the timing says plenty about how aggressively the Gators pushed to land him.
2027 DL commit Stive-Bentley Keumajou reclassified for 2026 on July 31, giving Florida a last-minute addition before fall camp starts August 5. It’s a move that turned heads, not because of doubt in Keumajou’s talent, but because he is still so new to the game.
Originally from England, Keumajou has only been playing football for two years at Coral Gables. Another season in high school likely would have helped him, but Florida clearly felt the chance to start his development now was worth it.
The Gators had been tracking him closely since offering him earlier this year, and their interest only grew from there. Auburn and Miami were also in the mix as Keumajou’s stock rose quickly in the 2027 class, but Florida’s push proved impossible to ignore.
Defensive line coach Gerald Chatman led the charge, and he brought the rest of the staff along with him in recruiting Keumajou to Gainesville. The connection mattered.
"I remember he flew down to come see me, and that's when I knew he really wanted me. Every day, he called me," Keumajou said.
"The whole coaching staff from the d-line department, Coach [Jeremy] Patterson, Coach [Joe] Hamilton, all the coaches. I have a good relationship with all of them."
For a player with such a short football background, that kind of attention had to make for a whirlwind recruitment. But the reclassification makes Florida’s intentions pretty clear: Keumajou was a priority, and the Gators wanted him in the program sooner rather than later.
That also gives him a chance to develop inside a loaded defensive line room, where he can learn from older players and soak up the kind of reps that matter. After just two years in the sport, Keumajou has already climbed fast enough to draw power conference interest, but he is still very much a work in progress.
Florida is betting that the combination of coaching, practice time and exposure to elite talent will accelerate that growth.
