Florida enters the 2026 college football season with a roster that stacks up with the best in the country.
247Sports’ finalized team-talent rankings place the Gators at No. 12 nationally. Their standalone score comes in at 859.91, while the 247Sports Composite bumps Florida to No. 10 with a mark of 891.07.
In the SEC, that leaves the Gators at Nos. 7 and 6, depending on which system you use. Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, LSU and Tennessee are ahead of them.
That kind of placement matters even more given how much has changed in Gainesville. After Jon Sumrall took over the program, Florida turned over nearly 60 players on the roster, including 32 transfers. For a team that underwent that much change, landing inside the top 12 says plenty about the level of talent the new staff brought in.
The holdovers matter, too. Retaining running back Jadan Baugh, receivers Vernell Brown III and Dallas Wilson, linebacker Myles Graham, edge rusher Jayden Woods and cornerback Ben Hanks III helped keep the depth chart strong.
Still, talent alone doesn’t guarantee anything. Florida was also No. 12 in these rankings a year ago and finished 4-8. Injuries, scheme and luck all played a role in that result.
The road ahead won’t be easy. Florida’s schedule includes nine SEC games, and the league is loaded - 13 teams cracked the top 20 in these rankings. That means the Gators won’t have a major talent advantage most weeks, but Sumrall has enough raw ability on hand to make a fast turnaround feel possible.
