Florida is lining up a recruiting showcase in The Swamp, and the Gators have two of their biggest targets set to watch it unfold.
Five-star wide receiver Easton Royal is expected to be in Gainesville today, despite being committed to Texas and drawing a strong push from LSU. Florida already hosted the Louisiana speedster on an official visit this summer, but the momentum around that recruitment had cooled. With the Gators now able to point to real proof of concept on offense, this is a clear effort to make one more run at flipping him.
Brysen Wright makes the day even bigger. The Jacksonville receiver, a class of 2028 prospect and the No. 1-ranked player in the country in the 247 Composite, is also slated to be in The Swamp.
His recruitment is already drawing heavy attention, with Miami, Ohio State, FSU and Texas all pushing hard. Wright has also taken unofficial visits to Texas this season, and Florida gets a chance to sell something the Hurricanes can’t match right now: a Saturday atmosphere in Gainesville.
Colby Wright, Brysen’s father, told Steve Wiltfong that they will be in Gainesville this weekend.
Florida is trying to turn its early-season momentum into something that lasts well beyond one game. If the Gators can impress both receivers today, Jon Sumrall will have a ready-made pitch: this offense looks different now. It’s the kind of attack that could fit both Wright and Royal.
The Swamp was already lively for FAU, and Florida is expecting an even louder scene today.
On the roster-building side, the Gators already have 25 commitments in their class of 2027, a group ranked No. 8 in the 247 Composite. Their 2028 class is still small, with just one commitment so far, but Florida has been laying a foundation with that group and expects to be in position once the real wave of commitments starts around January.
