One of the team's standout talents, wide receiver Dallas Wilson, is currently sidelined with a foot issue. While the situation feels like déjà vu, it’s one the Gators are handling with care.
Wilson, who’s been nursing this injury, sat out the start of spring camp. Coach Jon Sumrall confirmed that although imaging showed no structural damage, Wilson remains out of action as a precaution. “We’re not gonna make dumb decisions with how we expose guys to certain parts of the practice,” Sumrall emphasized, highlighting a smart approach to player health.
Despite being held out, Wilson's presence at practice is a positive sign. He’s been proactive about his recovery, even visiting Nike’s headquarters for a detailed analysis of his foot's stress points during play. “Just taking all the right precautions, really, like wearing the right shoes,” Wilson shared, mindful of the eight games he missed as a freshman.
On a promising note, Wilson did return to the practice field, although he soon joined the injured group in the weight room. Offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner echoed the cautious optimism surrounding Wilson’s timeline. “We’re in no hurry to get him out there,” Faulkner stated, confident in Wilson’s work ethic and readiness when the time comes.
Wilson’s potential impact is undeniable. His college debut against a top-ten Texas team saw him snag six catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
Over just four games, he tallied 12 catches, 174 yards, and three scores. A full season could elevate Florida’s 2026 prospects significantly.
