The Florida Gators have stormed their way to a share of the SEC regular-season championship with a commanding 111-77 victory over Arkansas. This marks their first conference regular-season title since 2014 and the eighth in the program's storied history.
Head coach Todd Golden took a moment to acknowledge the electric atmosphere at the sold-out arena during the championship presentation.
“First of all, we’re incredibly grateful for the support that you guys gave our team from the start of the season until tonight. We have the best home court advantage in college basketball,” Golden shared, his pride evident.
“I’m incredibly proud of these guys for their effort, not just tonight but the whole season.”
With this win, the Gators improved to 23-6 overall and 14-2 in the SEC, holding a two-game lead over Alabama with two regular-season games left. Despite Florida's dominant 100-77 win over Alabama earlier in the season, the Crimson Tide still have a shot at sharing the regular-season title if they win their final two games and Florida drops both.
However, thanks to their head-to-head victory over Alabama, Florida has locked in the No.1 seed for the upcoming SEC Tournament.
Riding a nine-game winning streak, the Gators are set to wrap up their regular season with a home game against Mississippi State followed by a challenging road trip to Kentucky. This team is certainly on a roll, and the momentum is building as they head into the postseason.
