The Florida Gators are basking in the spotlight after a stellar showing in the 2026 SEC Men’s Basketball Awards. With head coach Todd Golden and four standout players earning accolades, it's clear the Gators are making waves in the conference.
Leading the charge is junior center Rueben Chinyelu, a towering presence at 6-foot-10 and 265 pounds. Hailing from Nigeria, Chinyelu has not only dominated on the court but also excelled academically.
He snagged the SEC Defensive Player of the Year and SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards. His defensive prowess also earned him spots on the All-SEC second team and SEC All-Defensive team.
Chinyelu wasn't the only Gator to shine. Junior forwards Thomas Haugh and Alex Condon made their mark, with Haugh landing on the All-SEC first team and Condon on the third. Meanwhile, junior guard Urban Klavžar was recognized as the SEC Sixth Man of the Year, thanks to his impressive shooting off the bench.
Coach Todd Golden continues a proud tradition, becoming the fourth consecutive program leader to secure an SEC Coach of the Year title. This places him among Gator greats like Mike White, Billy Donovan, and Lon Kruger.
Chinyelu is now part of an elite group of Gators, being the fourth in history to earn individual defensive honors. This links him with past defensive stalwarts like Chris Chiozza and Patric Young. Klavžar, on the other hand, breaks new ground as the first Gator to receive recognition for his sixth-man contributions since the award's inception in 2016.
Thomas Haugh follows in the footsteps of Walter Clayton Jr., last season's All-SEC first team honoree, marking a return to form for the Gators not seen since Scottie Wilbekin's accolade in 2014.
With such a strong showing, the Florida Gators are setting themselves up as a formidable force, both in the SEC and beyond.
