Florida football is back in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, and the first home date of the 2026 season comes with the usual game-day logistics plus a few extras fans should know before heading to the Swamp.
The Gators will play their first game under new coach Jon Sumrall on Saturday, Sept. 5, against FAU at 7:45 p.m. It’s also Florida’s first home game since the win over rival Florida State on Nov.
- Even with the University Athletic Association’s $1.45 billion renovation plan for the stadium now on the books, the fan experience won’t change yet.
Those upgrades don’t start until after the 2026 season, so parking, gate entry and road closures should look familiar.
Several roads around the stadium will shut down well before kickoff. Five hours before the game, Gale Lemerand Drive becomes limited to ticket holders only.
Three hours before kickoff, that stretch closes completely from Stadium Road to University Avenue. University Avenue will also close to vehicles between Gale Lemerand and NW 17th Street, and Stadium Road will be shut from Gale Lemerand to Fletcher Drive.
Fletcher Drive is one-way this year, and drivers cannot turn south from University Avenue.
Parking closer to the stadium is mostly reserved, so UF is steering fans toward the general lots and shuttle options. The nearest general parking is on Fraternity Drive and Woodlawn Drive near Flavet Field.
The university is urging fans to get there early, and sidewalks are off-limits for parking. Shuttle service is available from Celebration Pointe, Park and Ride lot #2 at 3497 Hull Road, and Garage 109 south of Archer Road on Gale Lemerand Drive.
Gates open 90 minutes before kickoff, which means 6:15 p.m. for general admission and 5:45 p.m. in premium areas. UF is sticking with digital tickets and recommends loading them into a digital wallet to keep entry moving. Fans can also register for express entry, which uses facial recognition instead of showing a ticket.
Saturday’s game is sold out - Florida’s 19th straight sellout - though secondary-market tickets are still available. Inside the stadium, fans can find misting stations, free sunscreen at Guest Services Kiosks at Gates 1, 7 and 16, and cooling buses outside Gates 2 and 13. Restrooms are spread throughout campus.
The game also carries a few special labels. It’s 352 Community Day, with a portion of every ticket sold going to an Alachua County charity organization. It’s also the 2026 Stars of Honor game, a community initiative that gives local K-12 students complimentary tickets for academic achievement, character and fitness.
Before kickoff, fans can also stop by the O’Connell Center, where Florida basketball will hold an open practice starting at 4 p.m. And once the game gets rolling, every fan in attendance will receive a PixMob LED wristband that will sync up for a halftime drone show after the band’s performance.
