Florida’s 2027 recruiting class already has a centerpiece, and Maxwell Hiller keeps making the case that he can be one of the defining pieces of the program’s future.
The five-star offensive lineman has been committed to Florida since April, and on Friday night he gave another reminder of why the Gators moved hard for him in the first place. Hiller was on display in a way that matched the buzz around him: violent, efficient and impossible to miss.
Tom Loy of 247Sports watched Hiller in person for the first time and came away blown away. “Friday night was my first in-person exposure.
I couldn't have been more impressed. The effort, energy, technique, strength, power, and ability to finish on every play is all there.

The video that went with Loy’s observation backed up every part of that assessment. Hiller plays like a lineman who wants to bury somebody on every snap, but he does it with a kind of ease that makes the punishment look routine.
He does not appear to be forcing anything. He just moves defenders out of the way.
That kind of dominance is exactly why his tape has stood out for so long. When Florida first offered him back in December, the evaluation was blunt about what made him different from the pack.
The description called him the kind of player whose film makes the gap between a five-star and a lower-rated prospect obvious, with natural power that can flatten one defender or even two at once. It also pointed to his versatility, noting that many believe he could play either guard or tackle in college and beyond.
At 6’5” and 300 pounds, Hiller already brings the kind of size that translates immediately. Florida’s hope is that he becomes a major part of the offensive line pipeline, especially with some question marks up front heading into 2026.
