Devin Moore's journey to the NFL Draft has been a rollercoaster, echoing the ups and downs of his college career at Florida. Despite battling injuries throughout his time with the Gators, Moore's resilience and talent continue to shine through.
After a senior season where Moore finally saw double-digit games, he faced another hurdle with groin surgery in December. This setback kept him out of the Senior Bowl and limited his preparation for the NFL Combine and Florida's pro day.
The impact was evident in his athletic testing numbers, with a 40-yard dash time of 4.5 seconds at the Combine, placing him in the 46th percentile for cornerbacks since 1999. At Florida's pro day, his time slipped to 4.59 seconds, and his vertical jump of 34.5 inches landed him in the 29th percentile historically.
Moore, however, remains undeterred. "Having surgery on my groin like three months ago, I wasn't able to train for a whole bunch of this process," he explained.
Despite the numbers not being where he hoped, Moore focused on showcasing his on-field skills during defensive back drills. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 195 pounds, he demonstrated his ability to break on routes, a crucial skill that teams were eager to see.
"They love my size. They know I can run.
They just want to see me, how I can break," Moore shared. His performance in these drills reminded teams of the player he can be when healthy.
Moore's 2025 season was a testament to his capabilities, with career highs in tackles, defended passes, and interceptions. His stats over four seasons include 64 tackles, five interceptions, and 14 defended passes in 30 games. Pro Football Focus noted that quarterbacks completed just 53 percent of passes when targeting him.
Injuries have been a significant hurdle, with shoulder issues in 2022 and 2024, and a concussion and back injury in 2023. Yet, when on the field, Moore's play-making ability and coverage instincts are undeniable.
NFL teams have noticed. Moore is set to meet with the Atlanta Falcons and attend the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' local pro day, with more meetings expected before the draft.
Despite the challenges, Moore remains optimistic about hearing his name called during the draft from April 23-25. "It's gonna mean everything," he expressed, acknowledging the emotional journey he's endured. Moore's determination and talent suggest that he's ready to make his mark at the next level.
