Cowboys Make Veteran DL Signing With Unique Connection

Dallas Cowboys bolster their defensive line with the signing of veteran Jonathan Bullard, adding experience and a heartfelt personal connection to the roster.

Veteran defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard is gearing up for his 11th NFL season, having signed a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys. Known for his tenacity and experience, Bullard is expected to bring depth and leadership to the Cowboys' defensive front.

Bullard's agent, Jon Perzley, confirmed that the 32-year-old secured a contract worth up to $2.5 million. The timing of the signing was particularly meaningful, coinciding with his late grandmother Joyce’s birthday, a devoted Cowboys fan who was known for passionately cheering on the team.

Drafted in the third round back in 2016, Bullard's journey through the NFL has been one of adaptability and perseverance. He began his career with the Chicago Bears, where he spent four seasons, before having stints with the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, and Atlanta Falcons. Bullard then contributed three seasons to the Minnesota Vikings and most recently played with the New Orleans Saints.

In the 2025 season, Bullard recorded 26 total tackles, including 12 solo efforts, and defended six passes. Over his career, he has amassed 247 tackles, 144 of which were solo, along with 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and 10 passes defended. His collegiate career at Florida was equally impressive, earning first-team All-SEC honors in 2015 with 169 tackles, 30.5 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks over 35 starts.

The Cowboys have been busy bolstering their defense this offseason, with Bullard being the seventh new addition on that side of the ball. He joins the ranks alongside nose tackle Otito Ogbonnia and outside linebacker Rashan Gary, as Dallas looks to fortify their defensive line and make a significant impact in the upcoming season.
