Oilers Get Big Boost After Statement Ducks Win

Edmonton Oilers edge closer to the top of the Pacific Division with a crucial win over the Ducks, fueled by standout performances and rising team confidence.

The Edmonton Oilers are heating up at just the right time, pulling off a crucial 4-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday. This victory tightens the race in the Pacific Division, bringing the Oilers within three points of the top spot.

With only ten games left in the regular season, the Oilers seem to be hitting their stride. Connor McDavid was electric, contributing a goal and two assists, while Connor Ingram stood tall with 27 saves. Evan Bouchard kept his assist streak alive, and Matt Savoie, Jack Roslovic, and Zach Hyman all found the back of the net.

Savoie, riding a wave of confidence, remarked, "Confidence is definitely high right now. It helps seeing the puck go in." His post-Olympic break performance has been a revelation, mirroring the team's upward trajectory.

Darnell Nurse echoed the optimism, noting, “I think we’re trending in the right direction.” Meanwhile, Ingram humorously referenced the Paul Rudd meme, capturing the team's current vibe: "Look at us."

Head coach Kris Knoblauch praised the team's near-flawless first 50 minutes, emphasizing strong play across five-on-five and penalty kills. Although the Ducks mounted a late push, Knoblauch focused on the positives, acknowledging the team's overall solid performance.

Jason Dickinson supported his coach’s view, stating, “We played 90% of that game very well.” McDavid added, "It's the type of winning you got to do this time of year," highlighting Ingram’s resilience against Anaheim’s potent offense.

Notably, the Oilers are achieving this success without star player Leon Draisaitl. McDavid acknowledged the challenge, saying, "You're never going to replace a guy like that.

He's a special guy. But we need to find ways to get wins."

With three consecutive victories under their belt, the Oilers are riding high on confidence as they prepare to face the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night.
