In the world of college football recruiting, the Duke Blue Devils and head coach Manny Diaz have been making waves, particularly with their pursuit of four-star wide receiver Anthony Roberts. Over the past two years, Roberts has become quite familiar with the Duke campus, visiting seven times. With Durham just a short drive from his hometown of Rolesville, NC, it's no surprise that the Blue Devils are high on his list.
Roberts has now scheduled his first official visit to Duke for the weekend of June 5, signaling a significant step forward in their recruitment efforts. This visit marks only his second official visit so far, with another planned for Virginia Tech on June 12. Additionally, Roberts has lined up unofficial visits to Virginia, Wake Forest, and Rutgers this spring.
While Duke is certainly in the mix, Roberts hasn't limited his options. He's also visited the UNC Tar Heels in Chapel Hill four times and made two trips to see the NC State Wolfpack. His recruitment journey has taken him on more than a dozen unofficial visits nationwide, showcasing the wide interest in his talents.
Duke, however, holds a special place in Roberts' recruitment. "Duke, they were my first offer," Roberts shared.
"They just came off an ACC championship win. They’re still showing love from day one and being consistent in my recruitment."
According to On3, Duke currently has a 39.7 percent chance of securing Roberts' commitment, though he hasn't set a decision date yet. The Tar Heels are also in the hunt, with a 20.1 percent chance.
For Diaz, landing Roberts would be a major coup, adding to his recruitment success with King Kalama, a three-star offensive lineman from Pfafftown, NC, who committed in December. Securing a high-profile prospect like Roberts could significantly boost Duke's recruiting class rankings.
