Cameron Boozer Dominates Again, Sweeps ACC Weekly Honors for Fourth Time
Cameron Boozer is making this look routine - and that’s saying something for a freshman playing in one of college basketball’s toughest conferences.
For the fourth time this season, Boozer has swept the ACC’s weekly awards, earning both Player and Rookie of the Week honors after a dominant two-game stretch on the road. That kind of consistency isn’t just rare - it’s historic.
Let’s break down why the hype is real.
West Coast Road Trip? No Problem.
Duke’s swing through California could’ve been a trap - two road games, across the country, against conference opponents. Instead, Boozer made it a showcase.
In the Blue Devils’ 71-56 win at Cal, Boozer put up 21 points, 13 rebounds and three assists. Efficient, composed, and in control - just what you want from your frontcourt anchor.
Then came Stanford, and Boozer took it up another level. He dropped 30 points, grabbed 14 boards, dished out four assists, swiped four steals, and even added a block.
He shot a scorching 12-of-17 from the field, including 2-of-3 from deep. That’s a stat line that turns heads, even in a program used to producing stars.
Duke cruised to an 80-50 win, leading wire-to-wire, and Boozer was at the heart of it all. His two-game averages: 25.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 steals - all while shooting 63.6% from the floor.
And with those performances, Duke became just the second team in the last two seasons to sweep the Cal-Stanford road trip in ACC play. That’s no small feat, and Boozer was the engine behind it.
Numbers That Stack Up with the Best
Boozer now has nine double-doubles on the season. Five of them have come with at least 20 points.
Two of them? 30-point outings.
For a freshman, that’s not just impressive - it’s elite.
He’s joined rare company with this latest sweep of the ACC weekly awards. Only one other player in conference history - former Duke standout Cooper Flagg - has accomplished the feat of four weekly sweeps in a single season.
In total, the ACC has only seen 27 of these sweeps, and Duke players account for 19 of them. That’s a tradition of excellence, and Boozer is carrying the torch.
For some perspective: Duke has now claimed the ACC Player of the Week honor 156 times - second only to North Carolina’s 158. And since the 2013-14 season, a Blue Devil has been named ACC Rookie of the Week in 106 out of 215 weeks.
That’s nearly half the time. The pipeline of talent in Durham hasn’t slowed down, and Boozer is the latest proof.
What’s Next
No. 5 Duke (17-1, 6-0 ACC) will be back at Cameron Indoor on Saturday, Jan. 24, hosting Wake Forest (11-7, 2-3 ACC).
Tip-off is set for 5:45 p.m. ET, live on The CW.
The Blue Devils are rolling, and Boozer is playing like a veteran - not a freshman. If he keeps this up, Duke’s ceiling only gets higher.
