Pehrson Joins Duke as Assistant General Manager
DURHAM, N.C. - Duke’s football program has made a strategic addition with the hiring of Pehrson as Assistant General Manager. With over 15 years in the industry, Pehrson brings a wealth of experience that promises to elevate the Blue Devils.
His recent tenure at Stanford as the director of recruiting and player personnel saw him orchestrating three top-40 recruiting classes. A key component of Stanford's recent success was its youthful roster, bolstered by an increased use of the transfer portal.
Pehrson was pivotal in bringing in 17 transfers for the 2025 season alone, a record for the program. Among these transfers, standout performers Jay Green, Clay Patterson, and CJ Williams earned All-ACC honors in 2025.
Pehrson also managed the NIL and revenue share budget, negotiating crucial contracts between the university and its athletes.
Before his impactful stint at Stanford, Pehrson served as the general manager at Connecticut in 2022 and spent three years at Texas Tech. His role in gameday analytics and recruiting operations at each stop has been noteworthy.
At UConn, Pehrson facilitated the transfer of Brandon Bouyer-Randle from Texas Tech, who later signed as an undrafted free agent in the NFL. His time with the Red Raiders was marked by significant contributions to the recruitment process and roster management. Pehrson played a crucial role in bringing in future NFL talents like Tyree Wilson, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, and Caleb Rogers.
During his time at Texas Tech, Pehrson directed summer recruiting camps and managed the student-athlete enrollment process, further showcasing his multifaceted expertise.
His earlier career included roles as the director of player personnel at both the University of Houston and Navy. At these institutions, Pehrson was responsible for organizing recruiting visits and spearheading social media marketing efforts to attract top talent. His work at Houston contributed to landing NFL Draft picks like Grant Stewart and Logan Hall.
Before transitioning to personnel roles, Pehrson honed his coaching skills at Georgia Tech, contributing to the offensive line's success and participating in four postseason appearances, including a notable victory in the 2014 Capital One Orange Bowl.
Pehrson's journey in sports began as a baseball player at Jacksonville University, later transferring to the University of Texas and finishing at Towson with a degree in sports management. He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2007 and spent two seasons in the minors before shifting to coaching.
Pehrson’s family roots run deep in football, with his father, Dale, retiring after a 40-year coaching career. Now, Pehrson and his wife, Kim, are raising their two children, Austin and Tuff.
His extensive experience and proven track record in recruiting and player development make Pehrson a valuable asset to Duke's football ambitions. Fans can expect his influence to be felt both on and off the field as the Blue Devils aim to elevate their program to new heights.
