Lions Fans React To Shocking Terrion Arnold News

With Terrion Arnold's departure, the Lions must quickly reshape their cornerback lineup, and CBS offers insights on potential standout replacements.

The Detroit Lions have already made one major move at cornerback, and now the search for help could be just getting started.

On Monday, Detroit released former first-round pick Terrion Arnold after his recent arrest. Arnold, 23, is facing eight charges tied to a February armed robbery and kidnapping case in Florida, and the charges carry a potential sentence of up to life in prison.

Arnold had been a starting cornerback for the Lions over the past two seasons, playing in 24 games and starting 22. The plan had been for him to compete for a starting job again in 2026, but that path is gone now.

Detroit does have some options already on the roster and in the pipeline. D.J.

Reed and Rock Ya-Sin are back after starting 11 and six games last season, respectively. Ennis Rakestraw Jr., a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, has been slowed by injuries and has played only eight games in his first two seasons.

The Lions also added Keith Abney II from Arizona State in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and they signed former Titans and Rams cornerback Roger McCreary in free agency.

Even with those pieces in place, CBS’ Jordan Dajani put together a list of outside cornerbacks Detroit could consider after Arnold’s release.

One name floated was Rasul Douglas, the former Dolphins corner who will turn 31 in August. Dajani pointed to Douglas’ steady production, including 62 tackles, 13 passes defensed and two interceptions for Miami this past season. He also noted that Douglas was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week in Week 14 after a strong outing against the Jets, when he had five passes defensed, two tackles and an interception.

Tre’Davious White was another veteran on the list. The former Bills cornerback, also 31, is a two-time Pro Bowler who started 16 games last season and finished with 40 tackles, 10 passes defensed and one interception.

Dajani wrote that White “hasn't looked like a premier cornerback as of late, but he still flashes.” He also highlighted White’s work in Buffalo’s playoff win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, when White deflected three Trevor Lawrence passes, including the fourth-quarter throw that Cole Bishop intercepted to clinch the game.

CBS also mentioned Kenny Moore, though Dajani made it clear he’s “strictly a slot cornerback and not really an Arnold replacement.” Moore, a former Pro Bowler, was released after the Indianapolis Colts gave him permission to seek a trade this offseason and no deal materialized. In 2025, he posted 55 tackles, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, six passes defensed and one interception.

The final name was Trevon Diggs, who was released by the Dallas Cowboys in the middle of last season and appeared in one game for the Green Bay Packers. Diggs led the NFL with 11 interceptions in 2021 and made two straight Pro Bowls starting that year. His 2023 ACL injury seemed to slow his momentum, but Dajani wrote that at 27, he’s still “worth a look.”

Tigers Fans Wont Like The Latest Trade Rumor Around Their Ace

Tarik Skubals return to the mound has been one of the bright spots of the Tigers season, especially after he came back from elbow surgery and quickly looked like himself again. In 11 starts, the two-time American League Cy Young winner has posted a 3.15 ERA, a reminder of why Detroit has leaned so heavily on him as the anchor of its rotation.

Now, though, the conversation around Skubal is drifting far beyond his next outing. With the 2026 trade deadline still ahead, his name has surfaced in chatter among multiple clubs, a familiar kind of noise for an ace of his stature but one Tigers fans would rather not hear attached to a pitcher who has already proved how valuable he can be. Tigers Season Somehow Has One Split That Makes No Sense

For a club that has spent much of the summer looking up in the standings, the Tigers have collected a few odd side stories along the way. Detroit sits 37-49 and 12th in the American League, still six games back of the final Wild Card spot, but the shape of its season has been anything but routine. The Tigers have been sturdier in day games, have held their own more often at Comerica Park than on the road, and have had a strangely sharp contrast against starting-pitcher handedness.

The bigger head-scratcher is how uneven Detroit has been inside the AL Central, where the losses have piled up and kept the club from gaining any traction in the division race. Even as the Tigers have found ways to compete in some spots, the profile keeps pointing to a team that is more comfortable in certain settings than others, and the split against left-handed starters only adds another layer to the puzzle. For a roster trying to stay in the hunt, the next challenge is figuring out which version of the Tigers is the real one. [Read more 🡒]

Jackson Jobe Just Gave Tigers Fans A Reason To Dream Again

Jackson Jobes rehab has moved from a long-term hope to something a lot more tangible for Tigers fans. After Tommy John surgery in June 2025, the right-hander has kept stacking milestones, from offseason work in Texas to spring training time in Lakeland and bullpen sessions that showed he was trending in the right direction. The progress has been steady enough that team sources and MLB.com have both confirmed his velocity is back in a big way as he works his way through the next phase.

What makes the buildup matter is not just the radar-gun reading, but what it says about the shape of Jobes recovery. He has already cleared bullpen work, and if the rest of the rehab keeps moving cleanly, Detroit can start imagining him as part of the 2026 rotation picture. For a club that has been waiting to see whether one of its top arms could come back on schedule, that kind of progress is enough to keep the conversation alive all summer. [Read more 🡒]
