The next crop of MLB talent is about to take center stage in Philadelphia.
The 2026 MLB Draft begins Saturday, July 11, as part of Day 2 of MLB All-Star Week festivities at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The first round is scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m. ET, with the draft spread across two days just like it was last year in Atlanta.
Saturday will cover the first four rounds, while rounds 5 through 20 are set for Sunday. The timing makes for a busy backdrop, with several of the final first-half games before the All-Star break being played around the country while selections are coming in.
At the top of the board, the Chicago White Sox hold the No. 1 overall pick. The AL Central club, which is in Year 2 of the Will Venable era on the South Side and off to a surprising start, has a few directions it could go, including UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky, Georgia Tech catcher Vahn Lackey and Texas high school shortstop Grady Emerson.
A handful of teams will also be working with a 10-pick penalty on their first selection because they exceeded the second surcharge threshold of the Competitive Balance Tax. That group includes the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers. The Blue Jays and Dodgers won’t even come up in the first round, since their first picks are slotted for the second round.
Here’s the viewing breakdown for the 2026 MLB Draft.
NBC will air the first 10 picks before coverage moves to MLB Network for picks 11-40 on Day 1. Peacock is the streaming home for those first 10 selections, while MLB Network’s Day 1 coverage can also be streamed on Fubo, which offers a free trial to new subscribers, and MLB.com.
MLB.com will carry most of the draft, including picks 41-135 on Saturday. On Sunday, the full Day 2 portion of the draft will be available on MLB.com.
The schedule calls for Day 1 to run from 1 p.m. ET to 7:45 p.m.
ET, with Day 2 resuming at 11:30 a.m. ET and expected to continue until 7:30 p.m.
ET.
The Tigers are set to make four selections on Saturday: No. 22 in Round 1, No. 61 in Round 2, No. 69 in Competitive Balance Round B and No. 125 in Round 4.
