The Blue Jays have added another outfield option, signing Daz Cameron to a minor league contract last Wednesday, according to his MLB.com profile.
Cameron, 29, was most recently with the Doosan Bears in the Korea Baseball Organization in South Korea. He hit .287/.360/.473 in 314 plate appearances for the Bears, giving Toronto a player who has shown he can produce overseas and at the Triple-A level.
The son of former big leaguer Mike Cameron, Daz Cameron brings a familiar name and a versatile profile. Mike Cameron spent 17 seasons in MLB and won three Gold Glove Awards in center field.
Cameron’s most recent major league action came with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2025, when he went 2 for 42 at the plate, hitting .195 with one home run and a .507 OPS. He also spent parts of his first three seasons with the Detroit Tigers and had a 66-game run with the Athletics in 2024.
Mark Polishuk of MLB Trade Rumors pointed to the numbers Cameron has put up in recent years, writing, "Now in his age-29 season, Cameron has posted some big numbers at the Triple-A level over the last few years, on top of his performance in South Korea," and later adding, "His base-stealing skill and his ability to play all three outfield positions adds to his usefulness as a depth player, though it remains to be seen if the Jays will give Cameron a look in the majors,"
For Cameron to get back to the big leagues with Toronto, the path appears to be tied to either a deadline sell-off by the AL East club or injuries piling up in the outfield.
