Tigers Unveil Vibrant New Alternate Uniforms
In a move that has fans buzzing, the Detroit Tigers have rolled out two new alternate uniforms, adding a splash of color to their on-field lineup for the 2026 season. These fresh threads, introduced on February 19, feature an orange jersey with the iconic Old English "D" and white pants for home games, while a navy jersey with "Detroit" script and gray pants will be sported on the road.
Ryan Gustafson, president and CEO of Ilitch Sports + Entertainment, expressed excitement about the new additions, highlighting the team's commitment to fan engagement. "We've been listening to what our fans want, and creativity in merchandise has been a consistent theme," Gustafson noted. "These uniforms are a nod to the beloved 1984 team and a celebration of the color orange."
The Tigers' uniform rotation now includes five options: white, orange, and City Connect jerseys for home games, and gray and navy for away contests. Fans can expect to see the orange jerseys every Friday at home, while the City Connect jerseys will grace select Monday games.
Outfielder Kerry Carpenter, who showcased the new look alongside first baseman Spencer Torkelson, shared his enthusiasm: "The traditional whites are timeless, but these new jerseys add a fresh twist to our color palette."
For fans eager to get their hands on these jerseys, they'll be available at the "D Shop" in Comerica Park and Joker Marchant Stadium starting Friday, with online availability following on Sunday.
This uniform update is the culmination of an 18-month journey, fueled by feedback from fans and players alike. Before this, the Tigers were one of only two MLB teams without an alternate uniform, aside from the City Connect series introduced in 2025.
The design process was a collaborative effort, with hundreds of concepts tested among fans, front office staff, and players. Gustafson emphasized that the final designs pay homage to Detroit's storied tradition while embracing a modern flair. "These uniforms reflect our heritage and the spirit of evolution that defines Detroit," he added.
As the Tigers step onto the field this season, they do so with a renewed sense of style and a nod to their passionate fan base.
