Bryce Underwood’s words about Ohio State were always going to get people talking. That comes with the territory when you’re the Michigan quarterback everyone has an opinion on.
Underwood has become a magnet for rival attention, and a big part of that is the profile he brought with him: the No. 1 player in the 2025 class and a player paid millions of dollars to come to Michigan, just like many other players elsewhere. Rival fans have been eager to see him stumble, and plenty of them have already stamped him as a bust even though Underwood actually performed better than Dante Moore during his first season as a starter.
So when Underwood was asked about the Ohio State game and said, "It’s just another game. Just with guys in a different color. That’s how I see it."
the reaction came fast.
Ohio State fans pounced on the quote and treated it like a win, the same way they did when the Buckeyes beat Michigan football to end a four-game losing streak. Some of them are already counting "The Game" as a victory. They also did that in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024; we'll see if they happen to be right again.
Michigan fans, meanwhile, weren’t exactly thrilled. At least some of them didn’t like the comment, and that probably includes the same crowd that didn’t care for Kyle Whittigam saying he doesn’t "hate" Ohio State.
That’s the fan side of it. People are going to feel how they feel, and that’s part of the deal.
But the quote itself? That’s not what will decide anything.
What Underwood says won’t matter nearly as much as what he does on November 28. That’s the part everyone will remember.
