Detroit Red Wings Welcome Back Olympic Stars Raymond and Seider

Detroit fans, get ready to see some familiar faces back on the ice. Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider have returned to the Red Wings after representing their countries in the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. Both players are buzzing with excitement as the NHL regular season is set to resume.

Seider, reflecting on his Olympic journey, shared, “You work all season to be in that spot, and now we’re in a great position to hopefully do some more damage along the way.” His enthusiasm is infectious as he looks forward to rejoining his teammates and tackling the challenges ahead.

Tuesday’s practice at Little Caesars Arena’s BELFOR Training Center was a reunion of sorts, marking the first session back for the two alternate captains since the Olympic break. With one more practice on the agenda before hitting the road, the Red Wings are gearing up for a crucial match against the Ottawa Senators.

Raymond echoed Seider’s sentiments, expressing how much he missed the camaraderie of his team. “You’re seeing videos of them practicing, and you kind of start missing the guys,” he said. The motivation is palpable as the team aims to maintain their strong standing in the league.

Both players cherished their Olympic experience, with Seider noting the significance of NHL players participating for the first time in 12 years. “It was great for the sport,” he said, highlighting the excitement and competitive spirit of the tournament.

Raymond had an impressive run with Team Sweden, tallying nine points in five games. Seider, a key player for Team Germany, led his team in average ice time. Raymond admitted there’s always room for improvement but feels energized and ready to bring that momentum back to Detroit.

Despite the hectic Olympic schedule, Raymond kept an eye on his teammates, including Dylan Larkin, who clinched a gold medal with Team USA. “Super pumped for him,” Raymond said, celebrating Larkin’s achievement.

Head coach Todd McLellan was pleased to have Raymond and Seider back, noting the practice felt “about as normal as it could” with the returning players. He acknowledged the challenges of adjusting after international travel but is confident they’ll soon be back in top form.

Looking ahead, McLellan anticipates Larkin’s return to the team, hoping he’ll be ready to make an impact in the upcoming game against Ottawa.

With Raymond and Seider back in the fold, the Red Wings are poised for an exciting stretch as they continue their quest in the NHL season.
