Alante Brown is getting one more shot to show what he can do - and this time, it’s with the Memphis Tigers.
The former Nebraska and Michigan State wide receiver is heading into his seventh college season after receiving a waiver from the NCAA for one final year of eligibility. It’s been a winding road for Brown, but with Memphis, he’s hoping to finally put all the pieces together and make a lasting impact - both as a receiver and a special teams weapon.
Brown began his college career at Nebraska in 2020, where he played in 30 games over three seasons. His numbers with the Huskers were modest - 22 receptions for 262 yards and 22 kickoff returns for 284 yards - but he showed flashes of potential, especially in his final year in Lincoln. In that 2022 season, he posted 16 catches for 191 yards, offering a glimpse of what he could bring to an offense when given the opportunity.
He transferred to Michigan State ahead of the 2023 season, looking for a fresh start and a bigger role. While the production in the passing game didn’t take off - just 5 catches for 47 yards - Brown found a niche on special teams.
He returned 11 kicks for 346 yards, including a 92-yard touchdown return in 2025, the first score of his college career. That play was a reminder of the kind of explosive ability he brings when he’s in open space.
Now, with Memphis, Brown is aiming to turn that one highlight into a consistent presence. The Tigers will be counting on him to add veteran experience and versatility to their offense and special teams units. If he can stay healthy and carve out a defined role, there’s still time for Brown to write a strong final chapter to his college story.
And he’s not the only former Husker wideout on the move this offseason. Malachi Coleman, who also started at Nebraska before a stop at Minnesota, has landed at Wisconsin - making Brown the second former Nebraska receiver to transfer to a third school this winter. It’s a sign of how fluid the college football landscape has become, but also a testament to players like Brown, who keep grinding for that opportunity to shine.
For Brown, Memphis represents more than just a new jersey - it’s a chance to finally show what he's capable of when everything clicks.
