Dylan Larkin’s trade situation in Detroit appears to be gaining traction, and the latest wrinkle is a broader list of approved landing spots. According to Helene St. James, Larkin has given the Red Wings a 10-team list of clubs he would accept in a trade, a development that could help move negotiations along.
The teams on that list are the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights, Dallas Stars, Washington Capitals, Carolina Hurricanes, Utah Mammoth, Tampa Bay Lightning, New Jersey Devils and Colorado Avalanche.
St. James also noted that a multi-team deal may be required to satisfy all sides, which only underscores how messy a transaction like this could become with so many possible destinations in play.
Talk around a potential Larkin move has reportedly intensified in recent days. One report said discussions picked up heading into the weekend and had been somewhat rejuvenated lately, though that still falls short of saying a deal is imminent.
Earlier this week, ESPN’s John Buccigross made his belief clear on the Frankly Hockey podcast, recorded Friday, Oct. 16.
“I think there’s going to be a trade within seven to 10 days,” he said. When co-host Frank Seravalli asked if he meant Larkin, Buccigross said yes and added, “that’s coming.”
That would put the window somewhere between Oct. 23 and Oct. 26.
Elliotte Friedman added another layer, saying the Red Wings may be weighing how long they want to let things continue and whether they want to risk Larkin getting hurt before anything is finalized. He said the Connor Hellebuyck situation has likely added a sense of urgency in Detroit.
Neither Larkin nor the Red Wings have commented publicly on the list or on any possible timeline.
One notable omission from the list is the Montreal Canadiens. Larkin had previously spoken positively about the Canadiens and their fans after they chanted “We want Larkin!” but Montreal still did not make the cut.

Red Wings Rally Showed Fight But Exposed A Bigger Problem
The Red Wings left Climate Pledge Arena with a point and plenty to like about their third-period push, even if the end result still felt like one that slipped away. Down by three heading into the final period, Detroit battled back enough to force overtime and eventually a shootout, extending its run to five straight games with at least one point and moving to 3-3-3 on the season.
The comeback was fueled by a pair of key moments that should matter to the locker room, including Lucas Raymond finally getting on the board and Alex DeBrincat reaching a major career milestone while helping drag the game back to level. Still, the bigger concern for Detroit is how often it is having to chase from behind in the first place, because the rally was impressive but it also underscored how much work remains before these points start feeling routine instead of salvaged. Henrik Zetterbergs Jersey Retirement Turned Into An Awkward Scene
Henrik Zetterbergs No. 20 jersey retirement at Timra was meant to be a celebratory night for the former Red Wings star, but the ceremony before a game against Bjrklven turned awkward almost immediately. A few visiting Bjrklven fans booed during the tribute, spoiling a moment that should have been centered on Zetterberg and his long run with the Swedish club that helped launch his career.
The embarrassment did not stop there, since Timra also had to acknowledge a mistake on Zetterbergs banner tied to the 2004-05 season, which it blamed on a supplier error. Bjrklven later issued an apology, and the fallout even reached the business side when a sponsor withdrew support from the clubs supporters group, a harsh reminder of how quickly a tribute can turn into a problem. Red Wings Fans Get Another Twist In The Dylan Larkin Trade Saga
Dylan Larkins situation keeps drifting further from simple contract noise and closer to one of the more unusual trade watch items around the NHL. The Red Wings captain is still in Detroit for now, still playing to protect his trade value, but his camp has reportedly widened the field of possible landing spots as he looks for a move away from the club.
Even with a no-trade clause giving him control over where he would go, nothing has been finalized and the waiting game continues. For Red Wings fans, it adds another layer to a storyline already full of tension, especially with outside interest growing while Larkin remains under contract and part of the roster. [Read more 🡒]
